these are known as Winter Mushrooms...named Flammulina velutipes. edible...but only a bit...continuous eating of these have been known to cause heart conditions.

Enoki when cultivated... look so different then... i picked and ate some of these this past November here in Ohio... was good... like how they grow between the bark and the wood...

have u hunted them before? they're definately a gorgeous mushroom. i've more in my mushroom gallery.......u'll see some that look like they have 'dust' or even ash on the tops of the caps.......lots of rich orange and beautifully detailed gills....
and Fern Gully is still a fav. movie of mine!

i found a display of these that had over a 100 and they were all just perfect! i went back day after day and took pics....there were tiny dandelion seeds blowing on them...most likely how the non-winged fairies were able to get to them...
