Thanks for the compliment (and fave, as well) I'm fairly new to the collaboration thing, but Martin is quite skilled in the methodology (and amazingly talented in his own right). Glad you enjoyed them.
Welcome to DA, and may your artistic muse lead you on many new paths.

p.s.- You were correct. The tea was "spiked". lol

Thank you, Sandra, for the enthusiastic compliment! (and the fave!). A good deal of credit for this piece must also go to Martin Diego (*AlMaNeGrA ), who painted the left half of the collaboration. He also came up with the idea to make the image "tileable", so that it could be repeated as an endless pattern ([link] ). Glad you enjoyed!

I'm curious how do you do an exquisite corpse digitally? How do you hide your portion of the work from the other artist?

And yes - 'wickedly amazing' describes the work of the artist you referred me to well.

savageworlds In reply to Simplexification [2010-10-19 01:30:05 +0000 UTC]

The digital exquisite corpse is relatively simple. The artist who does the first half selects a narrow strip from one edge of their half and places it at the edge of a blank image equal in size to their own. It doesn't even offer the possibility of "peeking" although I'm sure none of us would ever be tempted to do such a thing.
In this particular instance, however, Martin was intending to make the entire corpse tile-able. He presented me (and several other participants) with a blank area bordered on all four sides with a corresponding sliver of his image. Our task was to marry our vision to his in all four directions. After submission, he created tiled versions which were quite eerie.

Very Interesting, what inspired this? When I look at it, I think of the cold war.

savageworlds In reply to Jason244555 [2009-04-03 02:49:31 +0000 UTC]

Thanks For my part of it (the right-hand side), I was trying to tie in elements of *AlMaNeGrA 's image (of which I could only see narrow strips). The intent was to create an image which could be seamlessly tiled. I remember feeling frustrated at first that I could not see the rest of the image. Since I had parts of his creation forming 'walls' on all sides of my canvas, I guess my response was to visually express that sense of confinement ('obstructed vision', a feeling that something was 'just around the corner'. I guess the cold war analogy might fit in that context.
p.s.-Thanks for the faves, too!

I know what you mean as far as seeing the rest of the image. It takes me a long time to figrue out what to do with the arms of the people that I draw. Sometimes I think that if I had a plan before drawing it might help, but this is only true some of the time.
