Description Commissioned for the 2012 Chinese New Year festivities at the Aria Hotel/Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Sculpted primarily by Evgeni Vodenitcharov and Daniel Miller (with backup support from yours truly), the piece was nine feet in diameter and about six feet tall. Sculpted from styrofoam, the dragon was then coated with a fiberglass-reinforced gypsum and then painted gold. He was installed on a nine foot diameter wooden pedestal surrounded by flowers and then by a fourteen foot diameter outer ring.

Thanks so much, Lon, for the compliments (and faves)! Like many of the projects I get to work on, there are many artists, craftsmen, and helpers who make the initial vision into a tangible reality. It's great to be a part of (and to learn from) such a talented group.

Thanks, Jeff It's been a long time (almost a year) down in the Foam Mines.LOL Many projects (some pretty boring ones, too), but precious little time to post pictures and brag. More stuff to come...

Thanks, Peggy As always, it proved to be equal parts of fun mixed with lessons on what-not-to-do-next-time Client was very insistent that the finished product resemble traditional Chinese dragons, yet playfully interpreted and "non-threatening" so as not to risk offending the delicate sensibilities of their gambling patrons. We even performed last-minute dental surgery to remove his lower canines because someone thought they might be too intimidating. Still, it turned out well and everyone seemed pleased.
