Not beautiful. How can you possibly think that someone's pain is attractive? Scars are nothing to be proud of and self harm should never be glorified.
Help people, but don't encourage bad habits~

My response to this would be that the one with the scars is beautiful no matter what it is that is marring his/her body. The act of harming themselves is not at all beautiful. No one should glorify the pain of themselves or others. However, in times of distress and desperation, simple compliments (ex. you're beautiful) help. I'm sure she wasn't saying that scars are beautiful but the person bearing them is.

I'm more thinking of along the lines of discouraging it. The only way I stayed 5 months clean was my (now ex) boyfrien completely discouraging me but not reassuring me and insulting it. It sounds harsh, but it was cruel to be kind, and it kept me clean.
And also, someone self harming doesn't necessarily make them a beautiful person~
