I feel like these shows often get overrated for their own good, but hey, that doesn't mean I can't see why they're so good, because I can.
But older audiences seem to praise these shows far more than kids, so...that says something about what kids cartoons have managed to accomplish over the years XD

I wonder what the classy guy in the picture thinks of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic or Wander Over Yonder. I think both of those shows are overshadowed by the two shows you brought up in the picture.

SU is like PowerPuff Girls with anything that resembles fun taken out and replaced with highly obnoxious characters and retina-burning colors.
GF has bad animation, painfully unfunny jokes that range from "Fake commercials that weren't that funny in RoboCop and The Simpsons either" to "LOL so edgy so random", mean-spirited characters, unthreatening and bland monsters, cookie-cutter storylines, and plot holes you can fit the Death Star through. Watching it made me hear Walt Disney rolling in his grave (YES I KNOW HE GOT CREMATED QUIET!).

I love these two, but I didn't forget how to enjoy toons that have less depth and more comedy; I really enjoy stuff like "We Bare Bears" and "Star vs the Forces of Evil".

Hey, they're not wrong. Given how the past few years have continually given cartoons the short end of the stick, this year's works have outright said, "F*** that, guys! We're showing effort this time around!" That's not to say all of the past few years were like this, but you get my point.

Thanks to such BS, instead of people making media (especially Cartoons) because they want to, we've got people trying too hard to make things to compete, instead of things for everyone to enjoy. It's sickening and makes me ashamed to be a cartoon watcher.
And both these shows piss me off so damn much, no matter how good they try to be - Season 1 of GF was partially worthless, save for the episodes that mostly focused on Dipper and Mabel doing things together; I didn't stating caring about SU until teven got good at doing shit and the Gems started acting more "human".

They're praised because they're hilarious but also give us a reason to give a shit about the characters. Gravity Falls has a fucking truckload of black comedy, and both shows are aware enough to not take things so seriously all the time.
