I like the designs but the idea of mixing that comic with the loud house just disturbs me.

Somebody showed this drawing to Chris today. All he said was "Cute."Β I just looked at some of the Eddie Puss strips, and that made me like Chris even more. lol Kinda makes you wonder if he knew Loud House would get incestuous ships and fan art.

sunshineandlolipops In reply to JFMstudios [2016-07-18 15:24:28 +0000 UTC]

That sounds awesome! Where was that? On Twitter or Instagram?

And I'm sure he knew Loud House would get incestuous ships and fan art, incestual ships on the Internet have been a thing since the early 90's.

And same here, back when I first discovered "The Complex Adventures of Eddie Puss" which was long before "The Loud House" started airing, it just made me like and appreciate Chris Savino more. I love it when cartoonists make use comics to make perverted jokes about "taboo topics", and it's cartoony drawing style was very appealing to me.

The was originally on his Facebook messenger, but got posted on Tumblr. I reblogged it:Β josefmojica.tumblr.com

Exactly. Even I dabble in NSFW material every now and then. It doesn't make us bad people, just curious. I'm just worried a bunch of self righteous jerks will try to bring Chris and The Loud House down.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

sunshineandlolipops In reply to JFMstudios [2016-07-19 13:10:23 +0000 UTC]

Ah I see, thank you very much for the link. I'm not on Facebook so that explains why I haven't seen it. Thanks to you I have now saved that awesome screenshot.

I agree completely. Exploring all kinds of fantasies and concepts (including NSFW ones) is exactly what fiction is for. It's sad we live in times when more and more people (on either side of the political spectrum) seem to think that the term "thoughtcrime" is actually a good concept. It is disappointing for me to see where things seem to be headed in terms of culture globally. Being in favor of a "live and let live" approach is actually less popular now than it was 10 or 20 years ago.

As for Savino and The Loud House being brought down by this, I don't think he has to worry. With "The Loud House" being a major ratings success he is Nick's "golden goose", at least for the time being. Besides Rebecca Sugar used to draw plenty of Yaoi fanart in the past (Ed, Edd, β€˜n’ Eddy yaoi fan-art, and black-and-white yaoi cartoon comics with original characters) and she's doing fine. And Teddy Newton (who worked heavily on "Monsters, Inc.", "The Incredibles", "Wall-E") and Bart Klein (who worke heavily on "Wreck-It Ralph", "Frozen" and "Zootopia") made this super kinky short (NSFW): www.youtube.com/watch?v=EGA0YZ… and they're doing splendidly fine as well. Incidentally that animated short's recurring line"Don't tell them. They just wouldn't understand" is pretty fitting to describe the situation with "The Complex Adventures of Eddie Puss" and Chris Savino, I'm sure Savino would say much the same. XD Β  Β

Cartoonists, including Savino, have a pretty laid back sense of humour about that sort of stuff. Besides it's 2016 and the comics can be easily found on the Internet. I'm sure he knew someone would bring it up eventually. It's possible someone already did mention/bring it up before.

imgur.com/a/ikrgs Be aware its jokes are quite lewd and there's uncensored tits with visible nipples in several of the comic strips, so the comic is definitely Not Safe for Work.

That's cool, mate. Just better safe than sorry, one always meets people on the Internet who first ask for links and then go all "Oh why was there no warning!? I opened it in front of my siblings/kids/parents/boss/elected official and now he/she/they ask me very difficult questions!" so if something is NSFW I always place a NSFW warning and a description to hopefully avoid drama.

It's cool you are reasonable and not a prude. I'm not one either, and I personally love this aspect of Savino's jokes, the comic itself and it's drawing Art. But since these comments are open for public viewing, it's good to have a warning in case someone more sensitive to these issues wants to click the link.

I'd never heard of the other show, but it looks like a lot of fun from the way you've portrayed the various kitties (and is Lana a dog?) chasing him down for their various wishes. Lynn begging for him to use the yarn for her to play with is adorable, and Lucy really stands out with her darker color. Let's hope Lisa cat doesn't get to splash the poor boy with whatever that is. Cute to see Luan torturing Leni too. Nicely done.

Β

BTW, "Eddie Puss" sounds like some vaguely Freudian thing going on… Should I be worried?

Heh, I knew the "Eddie Puss" had to be a reference to Oedipus. Thanks for the links… and let's hope this doesn't get around enough to hurt Savino's job opportunities in the future.

In an perfect world, this would only help his chances of being hired for more stuff!

BTW I hope all is well with you take care.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

sunshineandlolipops In reply to Fairy-Slayer [2016-07-18 20:28:35 +0000 UTC]

Yep, it's indeed a pun on Oedipus, of course. And you're welcome. …

Well I agree, but while we don't live in a perfect world (as 2016 is really determined to prove lately). If it could have damaged him, it would have happened earlier in his career. Luckily it seems working with guys like Tartakovsky and McCracken has boosted his profile enough that he was still able to pitch shows to Disney and Nick/Viacom (I'm sure both conglomerates new about this comic series before okay'ing his pitches, since they always run "background checks" for that sort of stuff that could generate bad PR in the future), and now with "The Loud House" being such a big new "golden goose" for Nick, I don't think that such "dirty laundry" can damage him at this point. I mean Bert Klein (of Disney fame), and Teddy Newton (of Pixar and Disney fame) made the famous "Boys Night Out" (they just wouldn't understand) short (NSFW warning): www.youtube.com/watch?v=EGA0YZ… ; and Rebecca Sugar drew Yaoi in her early days, and they're all doing fine. Now if a mainstream media circus would erupt around those issues, that'd be a different story. But luckily mainstream media doesn't care much about cartoonist portfolios.

And yep, I love those comics, too.

I'm doing okay'ish. Still have to share my flat with a family member, but that should hopefully end by January 2017 (March 2017 at the latest). Birthday has been pretty fun and relaxing.

sunshineandlolipops In reply to Fairy-Slayer [2016-07-19 12:12:49 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much, it was a pretty relaxing day!

And yeah, I figured you already knew this short, especially since Nurse Katie is a big fan of it (feel free to greet her from me ), but it was a good example for my point that "dirty laundy' old works don't wreck (Wreck-It Ralph pun intended), animator careers.

And indeed, knowing that the people who worked on stuff like "Monsters, Inc.", "The Incredibles", "Wall-E" (on one hand) and "Wreck-It Ralph", "Frozen" and "Zootopia" (on the other), makes it all the mosre enjoyable for me, too.
