Description It is a shame that a piece that was innocent, and that for which I feel great pride must be submitted negatively marked. I submitted "Sweeter" earlier, only to have a displeasing and ignorantly disrespectful and obnoxious comment made regarding it. I hope that the disregard for respect with which this comment was made can only be attributed to that individual's social/artistic inexperience with the mature consideration of the beauty of the human form. On a positive note, Subversive-imaginati responded quickly to resolving this hurtful occurence. [link] Thank you

So, onto the piece itself. I was honestly hurt by the comment made, and hope those who watch my pieces, or come to view this one will understand that I felt the above needed to be said, and that the "scenes missing" content only represents my frustration at the person who could not respect the representation of natural beauty. It saddens me, but I feel better getting that out. I may remove this in time and present the piece as it was intended, but for now, feel this is appropriate to represent both the piece (for all you lovely people) and express my disgust at the comment made. I appreciate in advance, your understanding. If the sentiment doesn't apply to you, (if it does, you know who you fucking are) please ignore it.

So... now onto my new painting, "Sweeter". Here is my original entry.... for those who read the above and it didn't apply to... thank you! To those who didn't read it, it probably didn't apply to you anyway, so thank you likewise... and either way I hope you like the piece

Also, thank you and credit to T. Reznor for the "scenes missing" allusion. See the censored version of the "Closer" video.

"'Sweeter'

'She started as a thought caught in my sketckbook, and I became inspired to rend her from those pages into flesh, as it would be. Somewhat devianting from the macabre, but somehow, she fits right in. I'm very proud with how this turned out, different as she is from the others. I hope you all like.'

Ink, pencil, acrylic, digital.'"

As always your thoughts are much appreciated, dear constant viewers...

I think you're censorship on this makes the image more interesting, and says more than a straight image might have.(^_-)

I can't possibly imagine what someone here saw that would elicit such negativity. Elsewhere maybe, but here? That is baffling beyond reason!!

Your gallery is quite exquisite. Keep up the outstanding work. I for one will be watching what you do, because of your talent. I know you were hurt but always remember to consider the source. Again, you have talent in abundance and NOBODY can take that from you.

I didn't see it without the scene missing bars but I think they add a lot to this piece and I think it is really good

I can't believe the sheer stupidity and nerve of some people! I LOVE this piece and I respect you for striking back at that ignorant fool (who, right now, I hope is feeling very ashamed of what they said) that couldn't understand that art is about self expression and beauty. You did a really wonderful job and I, like many others, love the shading and contrast of ideas you made.

Keep it up
-A fan

I don't know if they're feeling ashamed, but I do wonder how they enjoyed getting banned.

Scabbed:

It may be ironic, but the original was a decent but ordinary picture. With the 'police tape' across the 'sensitive areas,' it is transformed from a conventional figure study into a statement. The original figure was gentle; this one is caught in the spotlight. You might balance it with a male portrait done the same way; or then turn this picture and the new one into animated gif files, so that the police tape flickers on and off. Now that would be striking....

Sincerely,

David Thorne

Wow, that it much appreciated. You've just made my day! I have to admit, although I really liked how the first one, the changes have given the piece more depth, and seems for aethetically interesting. Your comments are much appreciated, and I like your idea of doing a male counterpart. Thanks a lot Mr. Thorne.

Awesome, thank you sir! I'm still considering putting up the original, but [a] am a little put off by that person's comment despite it's untruth and irrelevency and [b] kind of like how the "scene missing" fits into the picture, despite it's connotations to that incident. Thanks for the kind words!

Let me guess, some dick said he wanted to hit it or tap it.

Is this a watercolor or an ink wash?

ScabbedAngel In reply to Jon-Wood [2005-08-23 18:51:07 +0000 UTC]

Heh, I would have expected that... but it was a female bashing me for drawing it... *shrugs*

It's a waterdowned acylic wash... watercolor black runs out so fast, and I really like the particular shade of black that I use, because when it's water-down or mixed with medium, it has an almost brown tint to it... kinda cool.

Let me guess, something about how drawing nudity degrades women by transforming them into objects of sexual desire?

Well, duh. We're supposed want sex with women, among other things. I supposed she was one of those who can't distinguish between artistic nudity and OMGT3HSMUTONOZ.

ScabbedAngel In reply to Jon-Wood [2005-08-23 20:01:14 +0000 UTC]

Pretty much. I don't feel that this piece is particularly sexual anyway... I could understand if she was spead eagle or something, but this was intended as a dreary figurwork... not a pinup in intention, or in my eyes. You're right though, sadly some people cannot distinguish between work which glorifies and that which degrades or is disrespectful. Thanks for you interest, u63r
