Description
Too close beneath this netting of flesh lies a world of horror.Isn't it funny how a meaning is born from something meaningless? Things defined aestheically birth metaphoric representation. Everyone we meet breaks off a little more of us. After time are we no more than plastic draping the remnants of the fading of what we were before life really had a chance to eat us? Our flesh torn from the plastic husk that life leaves in it's wake? Why do we refuse to stare with horror and regret at the sad things that hang there tiredly? Why do we turn away?
I made this inspired by Silent Hill 3. The composition is supposed to reflect that the Otherworld lies so closely beneath the worldly Silent Hill. Now that it's done it means something else to me. "mannequin II" is dedicated to my number one fan and inspiration . . . you know who you are.
As always, I hope you all enjoy. Your thoughts are always appreciated.

after hours of wandering in an abandoned building filled by cellophane and arabesque shadows. neglected offices no populated by a various nightmare. a single room in the middle where the canvas frames and mannequin pieces are kept. nothing useful. but as you turn to leave a scream and splash and you remember that mannequin forever.

They way you portrait SH makes it look like you're one of the art directors for the game. It's insane how resemble your style is together with real official SH art. I love how her skirt is all red and gloomy, yet her upper body seems even more depressed <3

It is inspired by a mannequin which appeared in SH3 as a matter of fact! Glad you like it!

Harsh yet charming, disgust opposed to beauty, once pure - now filthy, but which side is which? it lies in the eye of the beholder.
Very powerful painting. I like very high contrast between two worlds. It`s like two pieces of torn canvas - you can see that first there were two paintings but none of them were finished. After combining them, the painting was finally complete. On the other hand you just can`t say which one was first. You can see a shape of a female that changes into gory flesh, but maybe it`s a rusty and dirty world turning into its whitewashed version? The question is "why am I thinking about two worlds"? It`s just one world, composed of many layers (we just don`t want to see them)... hm but maybe ... What is great about this work, is that there are countless possibilities to interpret it and mostly every approach will make you think differently about it.
What we see is only one thing, we should remember that there is always at least one more layer. Literally speaking - a beautiful female is also a pile of flesh .
This work definitely goes to my faves.

Thank you for the , and of course for a very kind and thorough comment on this. I appreciate your interpretations. I think that hearing perceptions about one's art really gives a piece life. It forces you to step back and look at it again as an audience instead. I really appreciate your thoughts, thank you again.
"A beautiful female is also a pile of flesh" Heh... an interesting and somewhat mordid simplification. Perhaps it's the layers you speak of that makes people out of dolls?

Thanks a lot, that means (sorry for being redundant) a lot. I was worried that each part might blend too well with the background (especially the lower... even more if you keep your screen darker)... I'm happy you could not only differentiate between the two and appreciate it as well
Glad you liked it.

wow...this IS silent hill 3. eerieness into panic, that's the vibe I got from the game and I think you nailed it here too. my favorite theme was the melancholy(and suffocating darkness...those apartments made me claustrophobic) of SH2, but SH3 is a close second. it looks like you're feelin Silent Hill too! first painting on DA that made me feel like I needed to wash my hands respect!

Thanks a lot for your kind words! There was such a horridly depressing atmosphere to SH2, definately the most effective of the games, but having rented SH1 when it first came out, I have a soft spot for SH3, being a direct sequel and all... I'm glad I was able to match it's atmosphere, and thank you for saying so. SH2's atmosphere of utter loss I think would be a bit harder to capture, but it is quite prolific.
"first painting on DA that made me feel like I needed to wash my hands"-- best compliment ever! Thanks!

I know it, i guess i cannot express myself on paper (writing, photo or other kind of expression) when i'm happy. when we are disturbed, torned between decline and chaos, we "have to" create in order to exhale our thoughts. And, indeed, when I am happy and enjoying life, I don't think about creations... but trying to take the best of my situation. I understand you, and I like it

That's an awesome thing to say, and is much appreciated. Thank you! I do my best to be optimistic, but for sake of the balance that exists, there must be a darkness as well as light. I also think, for me, it's easier to define and represent that darkness on paper. I used to wonder why I never paint happiness. I guess when I'm happy, I try to enjoy it in life, and I find happiness by expressing those dark thoughts/observations/emotions. Thanks again for the comment.
