f/2.8 works here for me. Not too narrow a DOF at 17mm, just a bit of background blur.

Didn't quite get the whole car in focus though. I'd of rather had everything in focus, including the trees. The small amount of blur you get with an ultra-wide angle lens doesn't look very appealing to me. I find I like wide-angle shots better with everything super sharp & crisp.
