Description
The Conclave of the Light: Warriors of Order, strong and mighty, the Conclave of Light is an alliance of nations standing firm against the forces of Chaos. The people that stand against it's foul corruption is the nation of Kislev, The Empire (which stands as a base for the allied nations), the Bretonnians, the High Elves and the Dwarves (long time rivals who refuse to be known as the race that let Chaos consume the world), and finally the humble Half-lings. Those these races do not always get along, they know that the alternative to working together is destruction. And so they band together, using all their strength and power to fight for Order, to fight... For the Light!Icemark Alliance: An alliance formed in war, the land of Icemark is the center of this Alliance, where mighty housecarls fight for Queen Thirrin, who in turn rides to battle with her men, and her husband Oskan Witchfather and his band of medic witches. They are aided by the Holly and Oak Kings, and their army of tree-soldiers and woodlen beasts; and the Hypolitans, mighty female warriors who are famous for their skills in archery. To the north are the Werewolf King and their Vampiric Majesties. From the crown of the world are the mighty Snowleapords, cats larger then war horses but as intelligent as any man. And finally, from the south, the Desert Kingdoms and Lusuland. Together they fight for freedom of their individual lands, and have formed a bond that ultimately lead to a great peace.
These two armies, formed in times of war to repel a more dangerous foe, now face off against each other. The two alliances will bring all their various races powers to bare as they both fight for their very survival. Human soldiers, ancient forces of nature, proud warrior races, fearsome monsters, all will be put to the test as both sides struggle to find out who is...
THE DEADLIEST WARRIOR!

I have to go with the Icemark on this one. I don't know exactly what this Conclave of Light is but the Icemark used to fight trolls, vampires, werewolves, zombies and all sorts of things, they even had to contend with dark witches at one point. Then they had to fight off an invasion of over a half million soldier, all of whom were trained in using rifles and cannons and outnumbering the Icemark army at over ten to one, and that was when it was just the regular Fyrd (militia), Housecarl Elite, Hypolitan archers and several thousand Snow Panthers and werewolves helping them out. And the Vampiric King and Queen were powerful magic users, bested only by Oskan (who is the most powerful adept in the Icemark universe by the time of his death, and managed to fry and entire army with a single spell)
Also, the Icemark army has taken in dinosaur cavalry, ice demons, and are quick to mobilize against any threat facing the nation or their allies. And by the end of book three they have an assured alliance with the Polypontian Empire through Thirrin being friends with their child emperor and her daughter Cressida marrying young Polypontian commander Leonidas. That means they now also have the empire, the southern kingdoms, etc to call on at a time of need. That is an entire continent's worth of fighting force, and between the massive Polypontian Army/Navy/Sky Navy, the deadly cavalry combinations, the hordes of flying vampire soldiers, the powerful witches and adepts and the deadly Icemark warriors I can see them at least making sure this Conclave of Light bleeds before it can beat the alliance.

Conclave of Light stomp, especially with this roster. Typically it is just Empire, high elves, Kislev and Dwarves, the bretonnians and empire don't really come to each others aid, to the point where it was seen as a weird thing to do in the latest End times novel.Β
Anyways, Icemark resembles mostly real world armies, with some undead and monsters thrown in there. The Empire troops are mostly real world troops too, but they have extreme discipline to the point where they pretty consistently are outmatched individually, yet they make up for this by sheer discipline and balls of steel. I don't think ice mark troops are keen to do things like gang tackle chaos warriors, or charge a greater daemon, or hold the line against troops who both outnumber you and are far tougher. Backing this up they have all kinds of artillery like canons and organ guns, and some beasts like demigryps, war griffons and pegasi. Imperial knights aren't too bad either, and they have a rather decent selection of cavalry and ranged weaponry. Overall, the empire has fought and defeated enemies far larger and far deadlier than ice mark.Β
but the empire isn;t the only one here. With the bretonnians you get a whole ton of knights, and a bunch of cheap expendable troops. Same with the kislevites, in addition to a powerful ice mage. Ogre mercenaries are commonly found in empire armies, so expect to see a few tribes of these lumbering brutes.Β
The dwarves and elves make this a stomp. Elves add all kinds of flyers, powerful magic users, excellent cavalry, a ton of elite units, some of the best heroes in the game, excellent range, and decent war machines. Dwarves bring the best and most war machines, along with lots of heavily armored troops, slayers, runic weapons are common, and thy have some unusual flyers. Their guns are the best of any force in the game as another boon for the dwarves. With all these armies working as an allied force, they cover each other weaknesses and the combination of their strengths covers almost every major area of war. Warmachines? got it. Cavalry? in droves. Flyers? check. Mages? check. Knights? check. Hghly mobile forces? check. Forces that can hold the line? check. Shock troops? yes. A truly united army of the "good" forces in war hammer would utterly stomp the forces of Icemark

Fair enough. So if war does not favor the Icemark, what about diplomacy? Is there a chance for these two armies to work out a peaceful solution?

Probably not. The fact that they use undead in their army is going to make them look like abominations to the conclave of light. And outside of the end times, where desperate circumstances have the empire allying with the undead, the conclave HATES undead and will destroy them. And the main leader of ice mark is one squishy human girl who likes to lead from the front. If she gets killed, that would hurt the diplomacy angle. Dwarfs and elves also see themselves as far superior to humans, and would love a chance to show this against a human faction that isn't allied to them. Β And assuming they ever did get to the diplomacy stage, elf and dwarf diplomacy is "ok admit that you are wrong, pay us a gigantic amount of treasure to compensate for our dead, and we'll call it settled. or you can resist, which in that case we will kill everyone and burn down one of your cities to set an example." So a diplomatic solution would be big loss for Icemark.Β
