Description These two are going in facing an opponent similar, yet oh so different to what they're used to.

Zerg: A race of arthropods working under a a hive mind, the Zerg Swarm strive for genetic perfection by assimilating "worthy" races into their own, creating numerous strains of Zerg. The Swarm have no need for technology, choosing instead to assimilate other species' traits by directed mutation in order to match such technology. Multiplying faster then most any other race in existence, Zerg have crushed many armies under the power of sheer numbers alone. Under the rule of their Queen of Blades, Sarah Kerrigan, the Zerg have grown into a fierce, nearly unstoppable force of destruction.

Eldar: One of the most intelligent and technologically advanced of all races in the Milky Way Galaxy, the fey-like Eldar posses armies with great mobility, psychic abilities, and weapons that far surpass those of the Imperium. Once the mightiest of empires, a great tragedy had them loose much of their influence. But still they endure, using their psychic abilities to influence the galaxy to their advantage, and farsight to plan ahead sometimes years in advance. While some may find them fickle, they are in fact quite wise, and never act without a plan, even if others cannot see it. This makes them a difficult foe to face for just about any opponent.

Now these two will face an opponent highly similar to ones faced in the past. Zerg are familiar with psychic races from battling the Protoss, while the Eldar have faced insect swarmers in Tyranids. Will they fair any better against this new opponent, or will the subtle differences result in their downfall? That question can only be answered by you, so please tell me...

WHO! IS! DEADLIEST!

*(Because I know this will pop up if I say nothing: No space battles. Planet-side only.)

(Disclaimer: Just to be clear, these two combatants were created / are owned by people far more creative / wealthier then me. I have made this, not for profit, but in the hopes of encouraging spirited discussion among fans. Please support the combatants official series. Thank you, that is all).

He apparently wrote the Iyandean supplement, High Elves 8e, and Sentinels of Terra so I think he does (this is according to 4chan admitedly, who follow every action that Ward takes)Β

Most for simplicities sake. Space ships have a nasty habit of being inconsistent in size and power, and it quickly causes things to devolve into arguments. Planet-only battles are more interesting, more consistent, and less messy.

the tournament these are derived from don't include space battles. Also, it always turns into a mess of who has the bigger ships and useless and utterly retarded descriptions clash with equally utterly useless and retarded fan calculations using only the highest end outlier feats. Β it just never works out good and no one will ever talk about the infinitely more interesting planetside battle because they are arguing how many zillatons of firepower ship A can put out, and how many biggatons of firepower ship B can take.Β

I would guess it would because nobody can agree on how much firepower ships have. WH40K is especially bad, there are descriptions of battleship weapons that put them as having less firepower than Godzilla sized robots smaller than the ships weapons, and none of the WH40K lore can seem to decide on how big the warships are supposed to be.

That's kinda my problem with using WH40K in vs debates, even the people writing it admit that what you read may or may be an accurate depiction.

For ground debates I tend to base my assumptions on the codex and the rules section, while taking into account BL information as supplementary.Β

Problem I find is the codices often run into various inconsistencies. The Eldar are probably one of the worst cases given that Games Workshops has decided to make them into their new whipping boy because people the Imperial Guard's surge in popularity. The Avatar seems to have gotten it the worst, we have one getting possessed by a Keeper Of Secrets and another getting trounced by a small group of Carnifexes.

It allows for some comparisons. For example I believe the IG lasgun in game has like a 3 or something (too lazy to look up that codex) while the Tau pulse rifle has a 4-5 I think? In game this would be confirmation the latter is superior and from what I have read regarding lore, the pulse rifle generally has more impressive feats.Β

Not sure about the Avatar's full rating though it should be noted in the former case I think the keeper got him unaware.Β

I suppose it's mostly some specific areas that get confusing.

so what advantages would both fighters have over another and who would win

Zerg have better: Misc.Air and Victory Gains. The Leader takes the Audacity, Psychological Warfare, Leadership, and Corruption X-Factors. The Zerg take the Morale, Logistics, Espionage, Discipline, Army Intimidation, and Reinforcement Rate X-Factors.

Eldar have better: Infantry, Elites, Cavalry, Armor/Heavies, and Air Combat. The Leader takes Adaptive Creativity, Tactics, Intuition, Intelligence, Experience, and Discipline X-Factors.

They tie in: Recon, Heroes, Support, and Additional Factors

Conclusion: The Zerg are a tricky opponent to fight normally, but the Zerg don't seem to be able to really overcome the Eldar in any meaningful way. Once the Eldar get settled in, their runes drawn, and the warmachines in full swing, I think the Zerg won't prove more of a challenge then the Tyranids, likely less of one.

Eldar Win
