Description
How to Swear in WH40k
You are doing it right.
WH40k (c) - Games-Workshop
XV9 - Forgeworld
Edited the bases and backgrounds from the original images and lumped them together.
The original pieces are not mine (but I do own models of them in person and will eventually upload photos of those).
Nothing more than an avid fan. Beautiful models, and awesome to play with on the tabletop.

The left one has the phased ion guns. The middle one has an experimental pulse submunitions rifle.
The rules are in Imperial Armour Apocalypse I & II
They're like crisis suits, but tougher, have defensive grenades (same as fire warriors) and can jump out of combat.

Serously though, they look absolutely insane. My largest army is craftworld eldar, though I have some chaos and tau, and I kind of want them (mostly because the models look amazing). The statistics on those are pretty good, though I don't have much love for melta weapons with range over 18 inches (much like I hate the run rule, it just doesn't feel right to a man who was introduced to the hobby in 3rd edition). You're basically stuck with cover/invun saves or have a large squad size if you want to live. I have a cash flow problem right now, so I can't afford such pretty things, but I love seeing those models.

I'd cream my pants for just ONE, and I can't afford any new model right now.
Money.. money.. I forgot, remind me what that is again?

Ah, nice ^^
I'm gonna get FCs next.
BCs are really just a points consideration, and I can't figure out how to get PSGs without buying lots of O'R'alai
Phased Ion Gun. Abbreviated as "PIG" - a funny thing cos it HOGs all the dice when you shoot them XD
Team of 3 = 24 Str4 AP4 Rending shots at 18"
I love them guns :3
FCs - for when you REALLY wanna ruin someone's day XD

6-18 of those hits is enough to make almost anyone cringe... except Tau of course ^^

Or when he deepstrikes WITH his terminators and they can't assault ^^
Hell, even WHEN they assault
Str5 T5 defensive grenades and hit-and-run?
Thank you very much ^^

ya
Eldar Players hate O'R'alai, especially when they have Eldar Pathfinders and those dastardly 2+ cover saves... oh wait, that's right, they don't get those against Tau XD
F*cking markerlights XD
I love Markerlights ^^
Not to mention O'R'alai's Str4 AP5 Assault2 3" blast that ignores cover.
Roll for scatter, -BS5 from any non-direct-hit roll, 3+ to wound, dead

Or an airburst, no cover saves allowed ( str 4 ap 5) oops, so your pathfinders have a 5+ armoursave? Sucks to be you

XD
okay, so you know
there are TWO (three) weapons in the Tau armoury that can do that.
Airbursting Fragmentation Projector
18" Str4 Ap5 5"blast, Assault1, Barrage, no cover saves
Pulse Submunitions gun
24" Str4 Ap5 5"blast, Assault1, no cover saves
Experimental Pulse Submunitions gun (O'R'alai
24" Str4 Ap5 3"blast, Assault2, no cover saves

Pulse sub gun (according to apocalypse reload) is str 5 ap6 24" assault 1 5" blast, no covers

Scarledian In reply to Potitius [2012-02-05 13:03:48 +0000 UTC]
my bad - you're right
Standard PSG is Str5 Ap6
O'R'alai's Exp PSG is still Str4 Ap5 Assault2, though
also has an option to fire Str9 AP3 Assault2, though with Gets Hot!
^^
but I love using the Ion Cluster Beam
24" Str4 Ap4 5"blast, Assault2, rending, gets hot ^^

O'R'alai:
WS4 BS5 S5 T5 W4 I4 A4 Ld10 Sv3+ InvSv4+(3+ from outside of 12")
Hit-and-run (Vectored Thrusters) Defensive grenades (Photon Casters) Can still use 6" Movement in assault after Deep-striking (all XV9s can do this)
Stubborn (and confers to any unit he joins)
His drones use HIS BS characteristic instead of their own ()
He is without doubt THE best Tau Commander available.

BS5 Markerlights - hitting on a 2+, and nothing can save the target now ^^
Oh - last game I played, vs Dark Eldar.
They had a Razorwing, or whatever it's called - the current DEldar Codex aircraft.
One of my Firewarriors shot it down and made it explode. Beautiful rolling ^^

Lovely, but that drone got a targetting array: +1 bs. (I know that it's up to bs 5, but do They know )

Scarledian In reply to Potitius [2012-02-05 22:18:32 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, they know, unfortunately. But my favourite part:
They also have Integrated Blacksun filters.
Night fighting for them is 2D6x6" range ;D
Because 2D6x3" x 2
The commander has this, but may re-roll if he can't see the target, all battlesuits can, thanks to Acute Senses ^^
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Scarledian In reply to Potitius [2012-02-06 06:24:20 +0000 UTC]
XD
Though with nightfighting, because the minimum you can score is a 6 (2D6x3" - 1+1 x 3 = 6) you automatically see 6"
Tau with Blacksun filters have a base sight of 12"
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Potitius In reply to Scarledian [2012-02-06 07:27:36 +0000 UTC]
And the normal max is 18, but with blacksuns it's 36.... Wow, just enough to mark that annoying tank for your broadsides
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Scarledian In reply to Potitius [2012-02-06 09:42:48 +0000 UTC]
The normal maximum is 36"
2D6x3"
1,1 x 3 = (2x3) = 6" minimum
6,6 x 3 = (12x3) = 36" maximum
with blacksuns it becomes
1,1 x 6 = (2x6) = 12" minimum
6,6 x 6 = (12x6) = 72" maximum
a Broadside with Blacksun filter than rolls double basically ignores night fighting XD

And with the Acute Senses, they can RE-ROLL it if they don't like it

Oohh.. I wouldn't say that..
I still love them regardless, EVEN in close combat.
Battlesuits are actually okay, XV9s are surprisingly good in close combat, and it's jsut plain HILARIOUS for firewarriors XD

Yep, well, that shadowsun sucks as well, only good due to the 2 fusion blasters on different targets each turn, now even more powerfull (and cheaper) with the new XV-9's!
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Scarledian In reply to Potitius [2012-02-07 10:53:59 +0000 UTC]
Shadowsun:
Stealth field generator, shield generator, advanced target lock, drone controller
2 shield drones, command link drone
2 separate fusion blasters
12" Str8 AP1 Melta Assault1
WS4 BS5 S4 T3 W3 I4 A4 Ld10 Sv3+ InvSv4+
175 points
XV9:
Vectored retro-thrusters, photon casters, multi-tracker, shield generator
2 fusion cascades
12" Str6 AP1 Melta AssaultD3
WS3 BS3 S5 T5 W2 I3 A2 Ld8 Sv3+ InvSv4+
130 points
not cheaper by much

Yeah...
A team of XV9s beats anything though
