Added 10/2/11Alright, this is my attempt at an entry for 's new contest. I don't know very much about Ultraman at all, and wasn't going to enter because of that, but I had this idea for a costume lurking about in my head with the rest of my horrifyingly strange ideas.
So I figured "why the hell not."
I figure the tentacle arms would move however Iris' arms moved. String or whatever. The zipper would be in that line along the side. The sides of the inside of the mouth would have a grip in them, so the guy could hold on and operate it.
It was a toss up on whether or not the green bits should glow, but you know me. Along with my love of spikes, I have a love of bio-luminescence.
This was actually one of the things I tossed around for my Halloween costume, but it was a bit too involved and I like being able to pick things up.
I am also woefully stupid about how suits work, so I can only go on the fact that I think this would actually work.

SO awesome...the design is so unique, I'm surprised it's still possible for a person to fit inside it as a suit!

to think such a simple system entertained for most of my childhood, though. albeit it was powerrangers and not godzilla that was the most influential. though i always, always wondered why even the fleshy mosnters gave off sparks when hit and why the t rex zord never bit the mosnters.

Wow... that's very original, and the basic design looks like a juggernaut! Very clever color scheme!

Definitely diggin' this design. A lot of people mention that he'd fit into Ultraman Nexus well, but I honestly feel he fits in any Ultra series. It's a great blend of goofy, yet scary concepts, and the man in the suit really feels like he'd operate it properly.

This is EXTREMELY UM Nexus-esque. I can see it grabbing large vehicles and shoveling them into its maw while that NIGHTMARISH "Space Beast" track plays...
Also, digging the color scheme. Very subtle mix that helps set the design apart.

Yup, I had this idea for a while-I just lack the know-how and materials to make it. I'd love to walk around like this, too-I imagine I could make quite a few kids (and adults) cry on Halloween, lol.

To be honest, if i saw a person walking around in that i would probably shit my pants too lol. but of course after figuring out it was you i would be like "Your costume is SO awesome!". if only i lived near you. Halloween would sure be one interesting holiday lol. but if you ever do make this you should make the mouth open up this way you could chase people around and try to eat them lol

I think the arms would be animatronic, but in order to flail around they probably would need strings.
Very cool entry, I like that it uses a more unconventional form while still following the constraints of a typical suit. You not being an Ultra fan doesn't really impact this because the designs are so varied I really have no trouble seeing this in one of the shows.

That's probably the best way to make them work, actually. It would work more fluidly that way than with just one or the other.
