Added 11/21/11The Monstrous Nightmare isn't my favorite of the dragons, mostly due to way the oddly placed eyes (seriously, why so close together?) make the face look, but it is a very neat one overall.
I do like the snakyness to it, and the whole "set myself on fire and really fuck you up" thing.

This dragon is one of my favorites in the series. That's because I like their colors, it's design, and how it can set itself on fire is really awesome. Nice job making this picture.

One of the movie producers actually mentioned that its physical and personality traits were designed to make it act like a typical alpha male. Your drawing really brought that out! Well done!

I prefer this version over the Dreamworks version, honestly. there is such thing as too much muzzle.
And, if I were a dragon, I would so go for the "set myself on fire" thing, for sure.

The muzzle doesn't bother me as much as the eyes do. I...they just make him look silly, I guess.
And as long as it didn't hurt like heck, so would I.

In my opinion, they should've made the monstrous nightmare look more like this. There is such thing as too much muzzle.
But this just really captures the essence of it all, while still preserving the movie look.
And, yes, that set-myself-on-fire thing really adds a "flare" to it.

You captured the overall feel of the dragon nicely without making the anatomy quite so cartoony. It has a jaggedness without the whole thing being covered in spikes. I think the color scheme is part of what does it. It looks like a fiery, slinky, snaky, edged weapon.
