Description
Added 10/17/12Ok, this is the Saber-Toothed Driver Dragon from the HTTYD books. It looked like an interesting, solid sort of dragon, and I liked the look of the little sketch of it.
Very neat one, I think.

Hi! You don't know me but I wanted to say this is such an AWESOME picture! Adding to favorites! I was wondering if you would mind very much if I referred a few people to your page for this picture. I was helping my friend write a fan fiction and one of the characters is a Saber Tooth Driver Dragon. I'll wait for you to say yes or no before I do. Thanks! And keep up the awesome work!

I did not say what you just interpreted it as. But if you want me to elaborate, I will.
The difference between the dates of our images are 2 months(4 days if you exclude colors 3D), yet yours is the one getting views, when it should be at least equal.
In other words
It doesn't make sense.

That makes absolutely no sense. Just because you upload something at the same time doesn't mean the same amount of people are going to see it.
Numbers wise? Not to be a prick, but you have no watchers yet. I have around 600. More people = more views.
Just be patient. The people searching for HTTYD stuff will eventually see it.

I really like this one. I've been into the shorter necked dragons lately, and the head neck and legs on this one are great.
Personally I hope they go with the short necked version of Smaug in the hobbit movies, just like Tolkien's drawings.

Thank you very kindly, Hyper! Glad ya like it!
Dragons with shorter necks seem to be something of a rarity in art around here. They do make for a nice change from the long, spindly necks.
He seems to have a few different lengths for Smaugs neck in his drawings, which one did you mean? I persoanlly sorta hope they take the illustrations from Farmer Giles of Ham as inspiration-that dragon looks really nice the way he drew it.

I'm not sure of the titles, but both the picture of smaug flying over the Lonely Mountain and his death over laketown indicate he had a short neck. The only other image of smaug that I can think of (by tolkien) is the one on his hoard. Smaug's neck is longer in that one, but still shorter than most dragons you see these days. All of his versions of smaug indicate a long body though, not stocky like your saber dragon.
From longest to shortest I would say: hoard, lonely mountain and then laketown

Ahh, yeah, I've seen all those. I guess those are pretty short. I was thinking of the dragon symbols on the map and in the beginning of the book, as well. Those have necks pretty much the same length as the Laketown pic. That is what I think is a perfect length.
