Description
OOAK (one of a kind) polymer clay sculpture. Made entirely by hand over a wire and foil armature. The tack was made from clay, ribbon, small jewels, and wire. The horse and tack were painted in acrylics and are quite irridescent.Companion is a commission I did. The commissioner wanted a character from the Mercedes Lackey series (I think Arrows of the Queen is one of them). I had never heard of these books before, but I think I might have to read them now!
Companion is about 7 inches tall to the ears. Her hair is tibetan lamb fur. She was a lot of fun to make, especially the tack. She's been in the works for a long time, I'm glad I finally finished her! She is going to live with "Golden Dawn".

Absolutely gorgeous sculptures! And as an avid Mercedes Lackey fan, I recognized this beauty for what she was before I saw her title. Spot on!

I still haven't read them. I did pick up one of her books at a thrift store, I just haven't got to it yet!

This is really beautiful! Reminds me of a barbie horse I used to have haha, but much prettier. I have a question, it's probably stupid, but.. is it okay to bake it even with the foil and wire inside? Nothing will happen to it? Sorry, just bought some clay, never done anything with it before so I'm unsure.

Thank you! Yeah the temperatures that these clays bake at is quite low (275F or 130C) so the foil and wire is fine. You can also bake them with masking tape around the armature too

OOO A companion! Companions are special types of horses. It is hinted that they are souls of previous heralds of the kingdom that are reborn into the special horse body. Their are many books and separate trilogies in the series so they are mostly know as the valdemar series/chronicles.
Arrows of the queen is a good trilogy and really the best to start out on.

Thanks, quite a few people have suggested them so I should get in on that. I need more reading material, especially fantasy stuff.

Mercedes Lackey has some of the best fantasy books I've read. This is such a fabulous sculpture from her descriptions!! She has an awesome 4-book series about dragons too... *hint*

I know what you mean. I keep a mini notebook in my purse so I can write down the books I want to get around to reading, one of these days...

They're pretty good books ^^ And this looks just right! I love her tack...and her tail. Her bridle is beautiful though...as is the finish on her coat. I love how shiny and sparkly she is!

I think I found them by accident. Probably because they had horses on the cover.

What a wonderful job on the tack! At first I thought it was from a toy. Even better knowing you made it And as always, your horses are amazing! ( I changed the picture, That is Romeo in my new display picture)
