Description
Cursive is a OOAK (one of a kind) unicorn sculpture. He was made from polymer clays over tin foil and wire. He has green resin eyes, and mohair for his mane and tail.He is 6.5 inches tall to the crest of his neck. He is slightly smaller than my other recent unicorns.
He is meant to be an andalusian type. Painted in acrylics to a dapple grey with gold horn and hooves.
My main issue with this guy is that his belly should be a lot bigger since his eck and haunches are so thick. I have a few issues with the anatomy of his back legs, but overall I really like him.
I bought all the mohair completely raw, and it took me over 2 hours just to clean the portion I used for him. But it is beautiful now, no hay or bugs or goat stink to be found!
He will be for sale on etsy (or maybe ebay, I haven't sold on there in ages) but not until I get back from our road trip. (don't want stuff waiting to ship while I'm away.) So around november 12.

I would agree that his belly could be a bit bigger, if you were going for a strictly equine anatomy, but since he's a unicorn why shouldn't his body be a little fanciful? I think he looks majestic, overall.
I'd like the photograph to be a little more uniformly lit (the hooves are blending completely into the backdrop on my screen), so I can get a better idea of the paint job.

Thank you The hooves are covered on my screen too, I think I should have picked a lighter coloured backdrop. The pink one I've been using lately is a lot better

I really like this piece! So often, people go in for the wispy, sylf-like unicorns; but it's nice to see a physically powerful specimen. Change can be good on occasion.

Thank you! I've done lighter ones before, but it's nice to change things up. Unicorns can be tough too!

Pretty good! But the legs seem a bit odd....

Thanks! What seems odd? I know the angle of the back legs is off but if I know, I can improve for next time

Well, just the structure of the legs is not correct. the back legs seem to go too far back and the upper part of the front legs just looks funny. I think it could be that its just too short and thick.

Both seem like fair points, thanks for pointing them out! I appreciate it!

Beautiful sculpture--I especially love the neck and expression on his face. The choice in mohair was very nice as well.

Loving the originality. There's something about it... it's just a very individual work of art. <3 The quality is amazing too.

The paintwork on this is beautiful. I love how you've blended the colours to get the dappled effect and to bring out the details in the muscles.

he's awesome. This is great! And I'm jealous someone can be so patient that can do things like this. I definitely have to buy some of these, when i have the money. Keep up the great work and get better and better! :>

Thanks! I'm really not that patient at all, half the struggle is to make myself slow down. But thanks, that means a lot to me

Heh, same here, many people say to me "wow you're so fast at drawing!", no, it's not good at all when you're making comics. I'm so impatient to do good planning, so i just rush them together and they never get right because i wasn't putting enough work on it! So i have to make some plans how i can get better and get some stuff done.
I'm so envious to those people who can just work on it really long time and see how much those rough plans get very good pic/comic.
