Description
Hawthorne is a ooak (one of a kind) unicorn sculpture made from polymer clay over a wire and foil armature. He has a body length (chest to bum) of about 5 inches, and is about 6 inches tall to the crest of his neck.Hawthorne has metallic green inset eyes, and a pearly sheen to his coat. His necklace is made up of hawthorn branches and flowers.

Beautiful. Looks so life like. Wish I could get even close to this much detail! I'd love to make a model of a friends horse, but I just can't get it to work. I just end up with finger/thumb prints all over it and bits all messed up where my hands have caught it while working on another piece.

Thank you! There are ways around that, either by using a stand or multiple baking. You can also use a harder type of clay, like sculpey firm, which is less prone to finger prints.

I seriously thought this was a real horse that got dressed up as a unicorn or photoshopped or something. Then I red the artists notes and saw it was a sculpture, went back up to it and really studied it and was like O.M.G!!!! O_O It is. You are amazingly talented.

What a beautiful unicorn! Unicorns and Pegasus' are my all time favorite fantasy creatures. I have drawn them but never tried sculpting them. I did try sculpting fairies and failed miserably....clay just isn't my medium I guess....but WOW....your Hawthorne is absolutely stunning!!!!

I've always been impressed with anyone that can do sculpture and incorporate hair into that. But this is truly exquisite. The colors are perfect. I love the detail on the wreath around its neck and just the stance. Powerful.

You're welcome! I love your newest creation too. Where do you get the hair to make the mane/tail/feathering on legs? Do you have to special order that? How do you make it stay in place? Do you individually put the strands of hair into the clay?

I buy the hair online, either on ebay or mohair-wig.com. I have a tutorial on how I do hair, it's in my gallery somewhere

oh my gosh, that's amazing, I've never seen suchwonderful work out of polymer clay. Heck, outside of the breyer horses I hardly ever see this quality of work, the veins and muscles are magnificent!
