Description
Winterlore is a OOAK (one of a kind) unicorn or kirin sculpture. She was completely hand made from polymer clay over a wire and foil skeleton. She was painted in acrylic and her hair is tibetan lamb fur. She is about 8 inches tall.She is a variation of the chinese unicorn, or kirin, so has more deer-like qualities as well as scales and a lion's tail. When the commissioner described the colour scheme she wanted, the theme of winter just jumped out at me and that's sort of where I went with it. I just wish it was actually winter so I could get some snowy photos.
I particularly like this sculpture's expression, it's really soft and reserved, I think she has a lot more personality than my sculptures usually do.
She was a commission so is not for sale.

Oh I -do- love this color scheme! Your kirin's have always been a favorite of mine regardless but I do love this on! I love the face on her. It has a different shape to it. I love the scales as well. Great job!!

wow thanks so much for linking me! They are all so wonderful! I love the realim of the face! They are as perfect as breyers, but with a lot more uniqueness and personality! I love your work! I did a Kelpie about 4 years ago. I could do a LOT better now, but haven't had the time or place to really work on sculpy much here. Maybe if I worked without a base, as I just haven't had any good bases in my crap apartment or a way to drill them like I used to. Here is my old Kelpie though: [link] Unfortunately he was my first piece, and I made the armature a bit out of proportion and had to try to work around it. If I ever did it again today I would have made his back legs better and less short lol. But oh well.
