I´m from

Wow. This fund is completely extraordinary and it looks like it feels like I'm in that place.

With extraordinary details in the environment, the reflection of the water, the dark colors that represent space, the planet that gives a contrast and light balance to the composition, the moon that is also on the right side and also balances the environment. ..

OMG. It reminds me of the planet where Goku fought against Broly.

Undoubtedly, this is one of the candidate drawings to be as Wallpaper on the Desktop page of my computer

Hi,

thank you . Haha I never watched Dragon Ball but cool it reminds you of it . Oh what an honor

Actually I should overwork the drawing a bit. My photoshop skills were not so good yet the time I created that piece. They are not yet good now either but it is enough for painting xD...

I love the colors you used in this illustration. The way you balance the warmth of the fantasy planet and the blue-green aurora colors of the sky evokes a feeling awe in the viewer. Your use of the water reflection adds to the fantastical nature of this work. The absolute stillness of the water’s surface brings out an otherworldly quality to your scene.

I'm not completely convinced with the textures you used in this painting. I know it only took your four hours to complete (and this is incredible for just four hours), but the illustration overall has a 0-hardness round airbrush feel that makes it feel like a digital illustration, rather than an epic landscape that makes me go “wow.” The light at the horizon, for example, was the first thing that I noticed, and I’m not quite sure whether you were trying to make it resemble mist or light. The mid-dark tones of the orange planet almost makes it appear less spherical, which I think can be solved you used a more saturated orange and harder brush over that area. The textures you used in the smaller island and foreground of the piece are much more realistic and dynamic, however, and I think it would be a good idea to do the same to the land mass at the far back (which you didn’t add a reflection for - not sure if that was intentional).

Overall, lovely work

Hi sDewpearls,

thank you for the feedback! I'm pleased that you like the colours and other aspects of the painting .

I agree with you, that the texture could be better. Actually, always when I go back to this picture I would like to overwork it. But I'm a bit lazy and it's more fun to start new paintings than rework old ones . The white in the background is actually the light remaining from the sunset. But it turned out a bit misty. Which brushes would you suggest instead?

I'm not sure if I understand properly but actually the brighter orange comes from a glow from inside the planet. So there are areas of the planet, which glow and others, which don't. I know it's not so clear...

The land mass in the back is actually coated with snow and is therfore smooth. The white snow reflects the green light as you can see

Because the land mass in the back is much farer away, I didn't add a water reflection. But perhaps I should have faded it out a bit, so that it is clear that it's far in the back

Thank you

I see I see !! Makes sense now!

And as for the mist, you could increase the size jitter of your brush and decrease the roundness for a more wispy effect

Hello, I'm from

I really like how you did the sky in the background; the planets look very neat and there is a very nice glow in the sky which fits to the atmosphere really well :3
I'm not 100% sure about that, but I think that the lines on the big yellowish planet (like the border betwenn the solid planet itself and the glow surrounding the planet) wouldn't look that sharp in "reality". I think it would be more blurry and the greenish glow arround the planet should also be incorporated on the planet itself (do you understand what I mean? Like the planet wouldn't be that yellow/brownish: it would have a green undertone because the glow would be on the whole planet)

Now, I also really like the reflection in the water/ice in the foreground. I believe you could work in the surface of that a little more so that it is clear what that really is (if its water adding some waves, if it's ice or maybe metal adding some highlights; for that surface, I would also add some kind of undertone, depending on what it is)

The rocks in the foreground look great, I love the texture of them! ^^
the ground in the background, however, looks quite flat and I'd say: Add more shading to it. :3

All in all, it's a great piece and I love the atmosphere of it. It's very calm and the composition and idea is very great! keep up the good work!

Hello R3M3DY1215 ,

thank you very much for commenting.

Well probably you are right and the planet would be blurrier but I just liked the planet like that and didn't want to blurr it. But if this foreign planet has an atmosphere then it wouldn't be so sharp. But lets just say its a foreign planet with a very thin atmosphere .

Actually the greenish glow comes from the sun thats already set. The sun is actually far behind the planet, so it only brightens up the backside of the planet.

Ok I get your point, yes I was thinking about making it look like water more by putting in some water movement but it just had something to it like that, so I left it . But you're right it would be clearer if its really water then .

Do you mean the island in the behind? Well actually it was the purpose to make it flat. Its actually covered with snow. That's why it looks so flat xD. Or at least that was the intention .

Thank you .

Hi, I'm from the Project Comment. Just wanted to share a few thoughts with you.

I think the analogous color palette of yellow and blue harmonizes and works well together. The yellow world has a ton of emphasis on it and the soft green halo is a nice effect. All these features are wonderful and if you don't mind, I have some ideas on how to improve the piece even further. When painting landscapes, it's important to establish the feeling of depth. Things closer to the viewer can be crisp, but as things move farther away they will appear blurrier, foggier, etc. Also consider that human eyes (and cameras) can really only focus on one thing at a time, everything else will be slightly blurrier. My recommendation is to go back in with a slightly softer brush and soften some of the edges of the hills in the background. You can also adopt these ideas to the shadows on the water. Water is a liquid, so even when it appears still, it is actually moving. Whenever you see an object reflected in a lake, it will always appear somewhat distorted. If the lake is supposed to be frozen, the same rule applies. Overall, I think you have a strong creative side and it can be difficult to understand when things should appear harder or softer. The good news is there are many real life photo references that can give you a better idea of how to paint something when you're not sure.

Oh and I enjoyed seeing your video. I hope you make more in 2018. Happy New Year.

Hello Lillendandie

thank you for the feedback. No I don't mind and I'm glad to receive suggestions how to further improve. I'm actually a beginner (at least with digital drawing, it's actually my third drawing ) and I'm just a hobbyist so I'm always eager to learn more.

I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I'm already working on a new piece and will upload a video too. I'm trying to make it better and am keeping your suggestions in mind .

adam-ant2 thank you for your feedback. Well I made it slightly transparent but the water is quite still so I just made it transparent very little.

i appreciate how surreal this landscape is and i think the green glow emanating from the planet really contributes to the otherworldly feel.

the reflection in the pool, however, seems a little too clear and sharp for me (especially the outlines). blurring it a little would contribute to the realism of this painting. you could perhaps consider making the water seem more realistic as well — currently the water seems so very still, as if there is no movement at all and i think that is quite unlikely.

i’m also quite intrigued by the white gas below the planet in focus. is it supposed to be mist? if so, perhaps something smokier and less consolidated would give a better effect.

i do think this is a lovely, atmospheric piece!

Scharle In reply to heartdialect [2018-01-06 15:32:43 +0000 UTC]

Thank you for the feedback. Yes you might be right I could have blurred the outlines in the water a bit. But actually especially the water was inspired by a fotograph, where the water really had no movement at all and was completely still. I was really fascinated by that and didn't want to change it in the drawing . I actually also thought about adding some movement to the water but then left it, because I think it has a special effect by itself

Yes in the background this should be some kind of mist or just the atmosphere thickening up. It looks so bright because the sun just set and still left behind some of the light. But you are probably right I could have made it less bright or make it look less mistier .

true! there is a certain eerie quietness to the landscape because of the still water. it makes it seem like there are no signs of life, which is cool too.
