Nice color scheme and animations. I don't think the file is 'too big'. Its not like its one of those 20-30 monster gif files.

There are both GUI and CLI methods to optimize GIFs, but it'd be better if the creation of the GIF inside your animation software is skipped.

Instead save in the best video format you're offered even if it takes lots of space, and use FFmpeg/avconv (extract the frames from the vid) and ImageMagick (or equivalent; to take the individuals frames and output optimized GIF). superuser.com/a/730389/81851 is designed for NIX-type systems, dunno how it'd work on Window$.

The trick in GIF file size optimization is removing duplicate occurrences by either removing frames altogether or replacing identical pixels with transparency (transparency doesn't take up space).

These GIFs are outstanding products, but the color space is too small, which creates borderline ok results, and you're wasting both disk space and performance, so it'd be better to use superior formats designed for animations. They have higher quality for less space.

I'll know what to say when I know what options you're given.

Animating in Maya, saving frames and after this saving GIF with PS.

I guess I can conclude my research. Be warned the info may be incomplete, taken from what I could find on the Internet with Google, and from GIMP:

1) try saving the frames in OpenEXR (abbreviation unknown). It might be spelled as EXR. If you're given the option to choose bit width, take the highest. If you're given the option to compress, use lossless in this order of preference (don't use lossy compression even if you're given such option):
1.1) Zip (16 scanline blocks)
1.2) Zip (per scanline)
1.3) Run Length Encoding (RLE)
1.4) no compression
2) if [Open]EXR ain't available, go for TIFF (Tagged Image File Format). Might be spelled as TIF. Like [Open]EXR, TIFF is a lossless format that supports compression, but has a smaller feature arsenal, so [Open]EXR is recommended when nothing better is available. If you're given the option to compress, use lossless in this order of preference (don't use lossy compression even if you're given such option):
2.1) Deflate
2.2) LZW
2.3) Pack Bits
2.4) no compression
3) Then, in P$, make your animation and save/export to MP4. If you're given the option of choosing the video codec, there're only 2 of them, in order of preference: H.264 and AVC MPEG-4.
