Description
This photo I do not like, well I think it's just ok. BUT it is most commented and liked, faved, adored etc. photo on all other websites. So I'm starting to wonder if there is something wrong with me choosing the photos I likeSo please comment it or write some critique.

The wake from the boat really takes you through the photo. Great composition!

I completely agree- the ripples from the end of the boat give a structured softness to the water that contrasts with the jagged mountains in the background. This is a really beautiful image.

I adore the wave/curve in the water--very unique. Was this taken from a boat, or...?

I encounter the same phenomenon sometimes with my photographs -- and the answer is usually that the scene is so interesting that the technical merits (or lack thereof) of the image are ignored. I feel similarly regarding this shot; it's not remarkable, but the place you've captured is beautiful and entices me to venture outdoors. There's certainly nothing wrong with it.

I also think that the waves on the water are essential for this picture, creating a path through the fjord, leading us to discover it step by step. It can also be disturbing for some people to see such curves in the foreground. Nevertheless, it's a beautiful landscape and a beautiful composition.

I think it's all in the water. I used to wonder why my water shots were so dull at times and then I realised that more often than not, it was because there was really no concrete and interesting foreground to lead the eye to the rest of the image. For this picture the swirls in the water achieves it very nicely.
But I think ANY picture in Norway would be a fantastic picture

You're not alone in doubting yourself.. Happens to me too!
I think the Waters movement helps take you though this nice work..up to the sky
and then to each side. That's what I experienced anyway!
Lovely detail and color color throughout. Very Nice!!

For starters, I agree with what the others have already said about why this is a fine photograph, which it is.
I suspect that you may have been going for a moodier feel, which would have been tricky in this setting and light.
I will admit to some bias, since I am madly in love with the photographer.

I often have the same problems with picking my work. I think this photo is great not only because the composition is good with all elements well placed in the frame, I think that having the three natural elements of earth, air, and water all in one image in such a grand setting creates a primitive connection in the viewers eye, putting them in touch with a landscape that is inviting and that can sustain life. Also, with the snow, greenery and river all together in one image, it seems like a surreal place where all seasons happen at the same time.
Ironically, the wake of the boat, which I usually would think is distracting, adds to this image as it helps pull the viewers eye from one compositional element to the next, and gives a sense of movement in the image, as well as tells the story of a voyage.
Good work!

I like it because of the contrast between the foreground (shadow on the water, the dark greens) and the background (light greens and snow). I there something wrong with your choices? Nope, I just think people have different views on what is beautiful and what isn't. The fact you don't like it might be the same reason why I do like it
