Description
Concepts for what is hopefully a comic in the works. No super-fantastic plot or anything, just a relatively quiet story about two high schoolers.
The dude (as of yet unnamed-- I want him to have a really boring white guy name, though. I wanted Phil but I know two Phils, one of whom is a furry and the other who is my ex-boyfriend, so I can't use it... maybe Mike, I dunno, gimme suggestions) is a furry. An angsty, misunderstood, semimisanthropic, hyperawkward furry. The yellow raccoon (who is up for revamping-- I think I might tone him down to brown and ultra-boring, and make him look more like his creator) is his alter-ego, lulz.
The lower character is his internet gal pal, who is also unnamed.
So, like, I am/was really torn between making the characters garish and horribly drawn (which would be realistic but compromise my own drawings to accomplish, haha) or actually designing something I won't want to barf when I draw. Anyway, so they're both furry artists who know each other through the internet. OKAY SO I KNOW IT SOUNDS BORING, but hell, I've never heard of anyone having a character who is, well, a furry (but not furry. You know?) Anyway, so yeah, I'm playing with ideas. I'm pretty sure that the dude's design is pretty much final, and I like how the girl's kitty alterego turned out, but everything else is still up for serious altercations.
C&C on designs and ideas always always welcome!!
Also, this may be scrapped later.

I'm digging both the designs and the story! This is a good thing, yes. I'm excited for more!

I really like their designs, and how sharply they contrast the fursonas. Hatgirl especially is really cute

one nice thing about the idea is: instead of showing they talking to through theyr screens you could have the fursonas interacting
so i bet the objective at the end of the comic is exposing both of em to sunlight eh?

My mind got confused when you kept saying "furry" a lot. @~@
I love boring, slice-of-life stories. :[
As for boring names, Brian, Jeff, Moe, Dick, Poe (lol rhyme), Bob, and Jim are all I can think of.
What kind of names you looking for as far as the female character goes?
You also pulled off some connections between them and their alter-egos quite well too, even if they are horrendously different.
Can't wait to see more.

I definitely think this is a fun idea, and could work if it were a web comic since that subculture seems so prominent there...but contrary to what DA may lead you to believe, not everyone knows what a furry is so you're still running the risk of alienating people. Still, the designs are so awesome and I really like how cute and imperfect they seem, just like real people :3 (but still nice enough to be attractive to the eye, lol).

Like how the guy's human counterpart has the sags under his eyes; they almost look like markings. Your simplicity with color is excellent, too.
Also: Drawing furry art doesn't make you a furry. Although its not true in my case, I wish people would realize that before they start pointing fingers at other hapless artists. ._.

I like this idea! (also because I know several people in similar situations with fursonas and such)
White guy should be Steve or Bob. (nah, that's too normal) WALTER! And I kind of like the idea of his fursona being a little bit more 'out-there' than he is. Bright colors attract attention; his creator wears something dull to not attract attention. If the fursona doesn't want the attention, but attracts it due to his color scheme, it could cause for some interestingly awkward storylines. And possibly cause character growth.
The girl's name should be Miranda. I had a reason for that, but it went away and I can't think of it. =/

You have potential for some VERY interesting character dynamics going on here, especially with them in their respective pairings.
Duder is blatant about his being a furry, and from your description sounds a bit outward and "loud", while his 'sona is designed to look reserved and even modest. The girl on the other hand, is designed simularly to duder's sona in looking shy and quiet, while HER 'sona is the inverse; instead being designed as outgoing, more of an extrovert, kinda like duder.
IF YOU MADE SENSE OF THAT THAT'S AWESOME.
But yeah, I REALLY like that percieved quiet/loud to loud/quiet thing you have going on here. Go ahead and tone down duder's sona to brown, it'll only enhance the contrast between his and duder's (PERCIEVED) personality and would be a nice compliment to chicky's contrast with hers.
UGH I really hope that's making sense. XD
Alright, screw it, time for a normal DA comment:
WOW this is REALLY good Geneva, awesome character work, keep it up! <3

I truthfully didn't intend that XD but it works! My goal was actually to try to have their characters reflect what they want to be (cat is blue-eyed, fair, confident, thin, and cutesy, whereas her creator is meek, dark, messy and chubby-- the raccoon is pleasant, sincere, and warm whereas the actual guy is practically an Asperger's case in his rigidity and awkwardness). Most important to note, perhaps, is that the characters are happy, but the people aren't. I think the dynamic you picked up may have been subconsciously made because it works very well, haha!
Yes, it all made sense. :B Thanks for the comment, sir!! <3

The raccoon alter-ego... wouldn't that be his fursona?
Oh man, I really do love the idea of the comic and I really want to see it in action.
I'm curious though, is this going to be satirical of furry fandom or is this more of a slice of life thing?
Even though I'm somewhat of a furry, I don't mind satire on furry fandom, considering that most satire of furry fandom generally has a grain of truth to it.

Kinda both-- like, it's not ANTIFURRY, but I intend on it making a sorta statement about it, you know? :0 Semisatirical, semiserious? I can't talk about it without sounding crazy lame, haha.

Naw, I get what your saying.
When I usually think of "Anti-Furry" I think of the whole "YIFF IN HELL, FURFAG!" crap, and that's just stupid and immature.
But, I love furry satire. I mean, when you're a furry... you can't take yourself too seriously when you run around say "OH! I'M A PURPLE AND GREEN WOLF DRAGON WITH BAT WINGS!"

I like the idea. I've never really seen many works about the furry fandom much, or at least, not concerning the actual people in it.
I know I'd certainly read it.
As for a boring-white-guy name, how about John? Or Paul? Or Wilson?

I... really like this idea, actually.
I love her big nose and how her body seems to taper down to tiny little feet.
As for names, I do like Phil, but there is also Jerry, Dan, Tyler, Zach, Evan... John. David? Eric. Steven. Andrew, Alex. That's all I can think of haha.

ROFL, my biggest problem with wanting to use a common name is that I know people who actually have those names and don't want them to think I'm saying something about them... Out of the ones you named, I probably shouldn't use Evan, Eric, or Steven. I was thinking Alex maybe, and Andrew might be good. Thanks for the input! <3
