I was thinking a white background with a mockingbird or an owl on my shoulder.
(ps. it is hard to see, but I have two piercings on that ear, they are both a grey metal ball. The first is bigger than the other)

I like the perspective, she feels very close.
Yea, I agree it looks best small, but that's not so bad, that means you've done something good with composition and colors overall. I'm not sure exactly what the problem is.. but I guess details and production (clean lines, blending, texture etc)

It looks like an illustation when it's bigger, like something that belongs in a children's book almost.
