She can channel her powers through her demonic possessed staff and the glyphs on her body enhance them further.

It is a thorn like bone structure that grows off her body, specifically her sternum. She can grow these out of any part of her body at will as an extension of her own skeleton as you can see in her ankles and wrists as well.

While that's definitely a cool Poison-Ivy-esque super power is it not hideously uncomfortable when you try to use it to fashion clothing? Also can she use these in battle? and doesn't a plant based power clash with her main magical fire powers?

She is impervious to slashing or puncturing weapons so any discomfort won't even registers for her. She wear just this, fashion is not an issue she does not care about.
Yes she can use said power in battle.
Bone growth and remodeling is a well established biological event that occurs in nature within vertebrate animals, (see antlers) I'm just taking that and exaggerating it for fantasy storytelling purposes. I guess you can relate to the idea of fantasy creatures with bone protuberances growing in strange places a.k.a. Unicorns 
The "Thorn" in her name is an artistic license to make reference to her red color as that of a rose with thorns, beautiful but can make you bleed if you are not careful upon approach. It has nothing to do with plants. She is an OC I came up with for writings I'm yet fleshing out.
