Description This is my first proper render in Kerly where I've played around with lights. I'm not entirely happy with it and there are still a few things left to do on the model, some more text and of course the bridge has to be sorted.

awesome render, is it exactly the same top and bottom, if this is so, it must be a major advantage to its combat endurance, as damage sustained in a ship to ship fight can be potentially hidden from the opponents field of fire, presenting a totally fresh set of armor plate

Thank you very much! Yes all of my ships are symmetrical over the central deck. I figured it would seem natural as space has no direction. This way there is no bottom on the ship, and you can face an enemy on equal teerms from every angle.

i like that, i guess its more well protected from ambush as well , no blind spots to hide in

Yup! that's the general idea. My biggest dream in this world is to be able to test out my designs in a real world game scenario. I bet the designs would change dramatically. I think I have a bigger chance in winning the national lottery twice rather than see that come true, but I'd really like it.

i think , of the designs i've seen you post, that they'd make a fantastic game , ever play BSGO, i reckon they would fit into that kind of play style

He he, I had to look it up, and yes you're correct! It wasn't intentional though, I just like orange and blue.

oh and if you are having trouble with file sizes and higher render settings, make sure when you export a Setchup image into Kerky select instancing. I dont fully understand what it does but at a gues it exports the model in blocks of data, that being all your components and groups. When you open it in kerky you see just colored boxes of model in its basic shape, I guess this removes using so much computer resources, so naming them correclty is important during the build. Once I did this, then I found I could set everything, lighting and materials to max and had no issues or long render times. The only problem is you are having to click into each of the materials (left side of screen) and make my changes, takes forever but was only way I could render a large model and file size without Kerky crashing.

Hope this helps, happy Sketching lol

FANTASTIC! I' have these problems, in fact I'm drowning in them and so is my poor, caned to death calculator. If this works well, I'm going to build you a temple mate, he he he..

keep playing around with the lighting power and watch out for refletive surfaces close to lights they can leave small fireflies on surface, i find using Metro light transport, setting 19 I think is the best depending on how you set up the other aspects of the render, looks great, cheers

Thanks for the tip. I've just used selfluminance with power and efficiency set around 4 on an SU texture.

Yup! A masive thank you with cheers to retromaniak for helping me out with that one. Takes an age to render though.. The models is up to 11,5Mb (+/-1mill polys, I think) and rendering it with lights took 7hrs. Damn...

Hi, mate thanks! I sat for a whole evening trying to come up with a nice way to partition up the massive window. In the end I was almost driven to tears, before I ditched the whole idea and said to myself I'll try and make the type of heat thread they have in fighter canopies instead. The idea is to make this really big ship with fighter style details to imply that it's really fast and agile.
