Description
This visual style will no longer be updated.Works on Windows 8 and 8.1. (Does not work on Windows 7)
This visual style is made to have no accent color, only black, grey and white.
The music player in the preview image is AIMP with Ladient ( fav.me/d6e0oqk )
Based on Gray 2014 by ezio ( fav.me/d6x6ssl )
& Gray8-final by gsw953onDA ( fav.me/d5navyx )
Credit to these guys since they did most of the work.

Before you install
- Make a restore point.
- Follow this tutorial just in case anything goes wrong:

- Install Open Sans (included in the download)
How to install
- Apply the UxStyle Patch: uxstyle.com/
- Disable ribbon UI: fav.me/d4xt4f0
- Copy the content of the Visual Style folder to C:WindowsResourcesThemes
- Right click your desktop > Personalize and click Penumbra 8 under Installed Themes
- Done
For the previewed statusbar use Classic Shell

Important note
ONE can cause installation problems such as installs being stuck at "creating shortcuts" and also other explorer related problems. If you are hindered by these problems, uninstall the ONE shell extension.

This fixes some problems with dark background of searchboxes, urlbars and microsoft Word.
This is however in exchange that some other parts of the VS will appear white.

hi does this affect Microsoft Office? because most black themes I've stumbled upon always changes my microsoft words background into black and I cant see what im typing

The normal Penumbra 8 theme does affect Microsoft Office. However, you can use Penumbra 8W (included in the download) if you don't want it to affect Microsoft Office, but it won't make everything dark like the normal one (8) does.

You need a program called Windows Style Builder. The latest versions of said program support Windows 8(.1).

bro the theme is f*ckin insanely cool, i just want to know if anyone else is experiencing this visual glitch/error.

I haven't seen that glitch before. You might need to switch back to the default windows theme, restart your computer and reapply the theme.
I personally don't use Windows Media Player, so the chance of me making a skin for it is really small. I did however, make a skin for AIMP that fits in with Penumbra 8, so you might want to give that a shot.

This skin is great, but sadly I'm having an issue where tabs on the taskbar do not flash. Is there any way to fix this?

I'm not having any problems with this. Flashes, as well as progress bars, work on my taskbar. I don't know the last time you downloaded the visual style, but you might want to update it by downloading the latest files.

Really? That's odd.. I just downloaded it a couple days ago after a format.

Both the xfire chat window and steam should be flashing because I received messages, but they're just the solid color. I've tried reinstalling UXstyle and so on, but that's had no effect either.

Maybe you need to change some xfire and/or steam setting to enable the taskbar flashing. Use the default windows theme and see if it works with that before trying Penumbra.

Maybe you need to move the color slider of the theme all the way to the left, if you haven't already. That's how I have mine set.

I moved the bar all the way to the left, and now my Skype flashes which is great, but Xfire and Steam still do not.. I haven't the slightest clue what could be causing them to screw up.

I liked everything is beautiful, but I would like regular taskbar changing color,

I've never seen a visual style that can do that, so I don't know. Working with changeable colors is a pain and can cause inconsistencies with the rest of the visual style, hence most people use static colors.

Is there any chance we could get a matching skin for Classic StartMenu?
The only thing I can do for the time being is use the eyedropper tool and try to replicate your skin.

I personally don't use any start menu program, so the chance of me making a skin for it is very small.
I prefer to use Launchy to launch my programs because it feels faster and has neat little plug-ins.

when i use panumbra, there the microsoft office word sheet is black not white. And i think there is good to use PenumbraW but some part change to be white part. maybe you can fix it

You may want to try using the regular all black version of penumbra, and then make a ms word template with a white page color as default, you can also likely change the default template to be the custom one with a white page color if you look around online to find out how. Hope this helps!

That white color you see is the same that is used in Microsoft Word because they both use the same property. Changing that part to a black color will result in also changing the sheet color of Word, so the problem would still persist.

Your theme is just the perfect one for VFX and 3D work, P E R F E C T.
But i have some rares glitchs, can i modify this theme with some sort of editor or do this is on your own ?
The More annoying is the bottom colors of the open / save / load windows, white spaces, white fonts...

The editor I use to make themes is called "Windows Style Builder" version 1.5.4.6 BETA or 1.5.6.0. You'll have to pick up a copy yourself in order to edit a visual style. The only thing is that the documentation about making themes is not that good.
About the white bottom color of the open/save/load windows, that is part of the window color, which is a general color used in the "W" version of penumbra 8. You could switch to the normal version, but that could make some parts of your program dark.

For some reason spaces on the right side and the bottom appear when I open Firefox. --> a.pomf.se/hudgzf.png
It also messes up with the auto-hidden taskbar and the FF context menu.

Oh and as a tip because I searched so long: hospos "Minimal Theme" for chrome works perfectly with it.
I'm using it right now for chrome and clover and it matches your VS perfectly (slightly edited 2 button colors in the .json tho).

I really like this theme, but can you please make the Penubra 8 (not Penubra 8 W) not change Chrome omnibar's (where the website address is) background to black?
And there is a bug - there is a second frame to the opened windows' thumbnail:

Chrome's omnibar uses the two elements WINDOWCOLOR and WINDOWTEXTCOLOR from the visual style. This has been changed to the default colors in Penumbra 8W.
So, why not use Penumbra 8W?
About the bug, it is not a bug. The window thumbnail is suppose to have two frames.

Shame on the Start Screen right click window though, any way you could fix that (it works fine in some other VS's)? Or perhaps add a StartIsBack start menu?

Well, I don't have a working visual style editor anymore, so I can't fix it.
The only thing I could do is use an older style editor and use a base that has the fix already applied and change that base to my current theme, but that would be too much work for such a small thing that I personally don't even use.
