The white Devocrine (Pygoastacus acutidon) is a species of Ichthyocaris of the family Iaculipodidae. This species occurs in the southern hemisphere, specifically in the watershed north-east of the Piyavka Sea. Pygoastacus acutidon is approximately 4 to 8 centimeters in freshwater, and exceptionally up to 11 cm in the vicinity of estuaries.
It is a short and massive Ichthyocaris. The back and top of the head are olive in color ranging from metallic green to golden brown with silver or blue undertones. On the head and sides, black spots form patterns more or less dark depending on the environment in which he lives.
Without sexual dimorphism, it is equipped with a pair of chelicères provided with an impressive toothing made of 8 triangular teeth (those of the articulated lower jaw interlocking between those of the upper jaw)
This Ichthyocaris is a species that adapts easily to environmental changes. The white Devocrines live in shoals and live mainly near the shores of large freshwater rivers and lakes, most often hiding between roots or various forest debris. During the day, they tend to be closer to the surface and move to the bottom at night.
His hunting style is similar to Piranhas or Candiru Asu, that is to say, an opportunistic predator, preying on wounded or drowned prey. To feed, the Devocrine clings to its prey, thanks to its 6 articulated legs, provided with pliers and hooks. When gripped, these chelicera goes into action to shred the pulpit between the chitin shells. To help the aspiration of the food, the maxilles fold, by synchronized movements, the torn food, towards the center of the jaws. This technique is very fast, allows the animal to feed quickly to satiety before giving way to the next Devocrines, draw by the blood and the movements of the attack.
The first scientific description of the white Devocrine was written by biologist, Jacob Forscher under the name of Deinastacus pygocentrus, in Studium der Wasserfauna von Beteigeuze-6 of 2197. It was not until later that the species will be renamed Pygoastacus acutidon to classify several other species under the same genus.
The white Devocrine pews do not suffer from population loss, their adaptability allows them to survive near civilization. But this phenomenon makes it dangerous for the natives, despite its fishing ... because this animal is an excellent source of food for the inhabitants of the cities of the region, from the moment it is deboned and smoked correctly.

Le Dévocrine blanc (Pygoastacus acutidon) est une espèce d’Ichthyocaris de la famille des Iaculipodidae. Cette espèce se rencontre dans l’hémisphère sud, plus précisément dans le bassin hydrologique au Nord-Est de la Mer Piyavka. Pygoastacus acutidon mesure environ 4 à 8 centimètres en eau douce, et exceptionnellement jusqu'à 11 cm aux abords des estuaires.
C’est un Ichthyocaris court et massif. Le dos et le dessus de la tête sont de couleur olive allant du vert métallique au brun doré avec des nuances argentées ou bleues. Sur la tête et les flancs, des taches noires forment des motifs plus ou moins foncés selon le milieu dans lequel il vit.
Sans dimorphisme sexuel, il est muni d'une paire de chélicères munis d’une denture impressionnante faite de 8 dents triangulaires (celles de la mâchoire inférieure articulée s'imbriquant entre celles de la mâchoire supérieure)
Cet Ichthyocaris est une espèce qui s'adapte aisément aux changements d'environnement. Les Dévocrines blancs vivent en banc et vivent principalement près du rivage des grandes rivières d'eau douce et des lacs, le plus souvent cacher entres des racines ou des débris forestiers divers. Pendant la journée, ils ont tendance à se trouver plus près de la surface et à se déplacer vers le fond la nuit.
Son style de chasse s’apparente aux Piranhas ou aux Candiru Asu, c’est-à-dire, un prédateur opportuniste, s’attaquant à des proies blessées ou noyées. Pour se nourrir, le Dévocrine s’agrippe à sa proie, grâce à ses 6 pattes articulées, munie de pince et de crochets. Lorsqu’il est agrippé, ces chélicères entre en action pour déchiqueter la chaire entres les carapaces de chitines. Pour aider à l’aspiration de la nourriture, les maxilles rabattent, par mouvements synchronisés, la nourriture arrachée, vers le centre de la gueule. Cette technique très rapide, permet à l’animal de rapidement se nourrir à satiété avant de laisser la place aux prochains Dévocrines, attirer par le sang et les mouvements de l’attaque.
La première description scientifique du Dévocrines blancs a été écrite par le biologiste, Jacob Forscher sous le nom de Deinastacus pygocentrus, dans l’ouvrage intitulé : Studium der Wasserfauna von Beteigeuze-6 de 2197. Ce n’est que plus tard que l’espèce sera renommée en Pygoastacus acutidon afin de classer plusieurs autres espèces, sous le même genre.
Les bancs de Dévocrines blancs ne souffrent pas de perte de population, leur adaptabilité leur permet de survivre près de la civilisation. Mais ce phénomène le rend dangereux pour les autochtones, malgré sa pêche… car cet animal est une excellente source de nourriture pour les habitants des villes de la région, à partir du moment où il est désossé et fumé correctement.
