It just depends on preference to me, I guess! I can't imagine a horse like that either (I think it's the nose; horses have very different noses than goats that look strange flat/in the front)--but I can imagine a goat (or rather, a Satyr, as I said; a human-goat hybrid, which the second drawing is more reminiscent of). I suppose it also as to do with what you want your character to BE, and what style stuff is in. A traditional goat would look like, well, a real life goat, but people take artistic licence to get certain ideas across that they want. A lotta TV shows n stuff have animal characters that look nothing like what they were based upon due to stylistic stuff; I totes see where you're coming from (imagining a flat-faced, real-life goat is horrifying), but it really doesn't bug me as much as you, I suppose~
In the end to me, it comes down to 'is the person knowingly stylizing the character'. If they're drawing goats wrong because they dunno how to draw goats, they need to learn how to draw goats!! But, if they're stylizing on purpose... well, whether I like their design or not, at least they're doing it knowingly. That's what I think, anyways; everyone's got their own opinion, and I really feel honored that you replied to me!~

whoever has been drawing goats like this ill fight them, sure, its fantasy and you can bend whatever you want...but if you think you can just mix a bunch of animal features up and then call it something totally different then its an issue D:
and if you /want/ to mix a bunch of animals together then sure do so! but don't call it a simple name of an animal it does not look like...just give it a cool name and be unique!

their horns work, theyre just stylized because it's pixel art. but they work as goat horns that have grown & curved backwards (which they do)
