Description
another stand alone card which has undergone various rounds of minipulation by being cooked in the microwave, creative folding and using destressed ink to highlight the fractures that formed. Any ideas on what to add to it next?Related content

IMHO... I'm thinking... an old piece of leather.. not too much bigger.... and then a couple of pieces of small or thin rusty metal... riveted to the leather and holding it down. Maybe cruciform.. maybe just two on the horizontal... depending on how the details in the card get covered. Maybe even two bands at odd angles... not even trying to be symmetrical....
Something to make it look ' strapped down'... but for a long time... If you could find some rusty old pop cans or something.. really thin and easily cut or torn... I think THAT would be a good finish to the piece.
In My Humble Opinion!!!

great ideas! *grin* i'll have to seriously consider doing that. i do have a lot of thin metal strips that came from some heavy duty transformers (from old tanning beds) that i've been talking apart (tops and sides are spot welded so its slow work)that would look rather nice, and i'm pretty sure i could find some old leather pieces without too much difficulty. might try this idea with a few other cards i have, since i sent this card to a fellow deviant for as part of a collaboration; however, i could still make a high resolution print of this with a few thin layers of varnish over it and do as you suggested...yeah, i think i can do that.

Haha, I like that idea: Being cooked in the microwave. It looks really neat. The diamond shaped crease help magnify the red diamonds, yes.

you have to be careful doing this, the card has to have been soaking for a few minutes and you need to have it in water (or a weak dye made of coffee or tea) before cooking it. a few seconds at a time. Too much and the card can catch fire (if it's too dry) or become so brittle it falls apart when you touch it. will be working on a few more cards this evening after getting som last minute assignments done for the quarter and studying for the final in typeography class. (big part of the grade) just bought some really old magazines today at a yard sale, they were in really bad shape but they were from '72
and the pictures of the models, fashions, and adds are hysterical.

since i don't follow fashion trends, my sense of what looks good and what is popular are miles apart but i know what looks goofy (personal preference) i'm not sure what sort of reaction you would expect A white jumpsuit covered in brightly colored embroidery with the typical peace and love slogans in gaudy styles that were popular in the 70's or a pair of over the calf suede boots decorated with acrylic paint... would cause in todays world...pity or fear (not sure which) does that sound like anything you would likely see someone wear this evening? this is coming from someone who sees high heel shoes an very impractical, and painful to wear (not that i've ever had a desire to wear them) i could really elaborate on this topic but the cards
(when finished) will more than demonstrate what i'm talking about
