Description
I was never completely happy with the old Cthulhu that I posted here [link]so I went back a few saves and reworked the big guy and decided to keep it in monotone.
Although there are elements that I liked on the first posted image, I think overall I prefer this version.
Let me know what ya think

I like that you paid attention to Lovecraft's description of geometry being all kinds of funky. Those buildings he's about to squash flat make my head hurt if I look at them long enough.

I remember a really clear description with his characters walking up an angle that should've sloped down. The fact that simple laws of physics are all kinds of wrong is a central point of the Cthulhu mythos, I'm surprised more people don't pick up on that and/or add it in on their drawings.

I think it's probably very hard to illustrate, I know I haven't ever pulled that off. Escher stylee!

Probably. I think it could be done if you drew a fairly normal building, road, etc and then used computer programs to distort it... but as far as just straight drawing Cthulhuville, forget it. Which means Lovecraft did his job pretty damn well.

Yeah I think you may be correct, it could definitely help to start the non Euclidean geometry out and then build on the painting from there. And Ol' HP was an Old God himself, I'm sure that's why he came up with this stuff

Yes, I believe he was. Now I've got the image of Lovecrafthulhu sitting behind a desk, scratching out the story of some terrified human who stumbled into his realm.

Love it! I love them both, but this one definitely feels a bit more eerie. <3 All of these Lovecraftian arts are fantastic. :3
