Wow, that's a stunner. I love the vid, too. It's always cool to see a talented artist doing his thing.

Thanks Gav.. although 'talented' is probably pushing it
I'd rather call myself 'occasionally able'

..... of course that's in reference to drawing and painting, not anything else!!!

Is there really anything else worth being "occasionally able" at?

All is getting back to normal here mate, thanks for asking! Any luck with the agencies?

JerMohler In reply to ScottPurdy [2008-10-08 15:10:52 +0000 UTC]

No luck, but didn't really expect to have any. Why weren't things normal before?

ScottPurdy In reply to JerMohler [2008-10-10 08:05:03 +0000 UTC]

Ahhh they seem very picky eh. I've known a few peeps looking to get into them and it seems that if you don't suit their needs right away you don't seem to have much chance.. I guess it's luck :/

I'll send you a note about the Summer stuff mate, it's not really something I like to talk about publicly.

Are you hosting your video on a service? Or just your site? I'm hunting around a bit for such knowledge

I do love your ink work, it's got a tangible quality that's so neat. Makes me wanna do more art. Stop making me want to be productive!

ScottPurdy In reply to cmalidore [2008-10-03 15:44:17 +0000 UTC]

Just hosted on my site, I've got enough room for a few and they aren't really massive in size luckily.

And cheers, I'm not sure that I agree. I find a lot of my work a bit wishy washy.. but I guess that's because I'm the one sat here getting frustrated at what I'm making

Go get productive!!!!

Thanks matey

We artists are good at finding what I like to not so affectionately call "dammit spots". in our own works..... I worry about those who don't see that in their work.

Met one of those last week actually, "My technique is perfected!"

I didn't laugh at him though. I had restraint.

Ahh I love those guys! I haven't met one for a long, long time but a friend of mine has one that bugs him occasionally and I can't help but snigger and, well, take the p*ss

Not to mention this kid was mentored by some of my least favorite artists....

All I know is when a guy picks up a John Howe art book, flips through it, and announces that his technique would allow him to do such work - he must either be able to back that up, or expect to be laughed at. This lad couldn't back it up. In fact I urged him to go take foundation classes after seeing his work...

I wonder if he was just trying to wind you up then? Although some of them have been praised by mummy and daddy all their life that they have no concept outside of the household how crap they really are. Frustrating to see when you damned well that they will not listen.
I wanna see his stuff.. you must email or message it to me

I saw him in person, don't really remember his online account names.... if I dig it up I'll let you know. It's your standard "I wanna be an illustrator without the effort" lineup of images. He has some skill with a pencil, but isn't applying it to the important things, like anatomy, composition, etc. I liked a tattoo design he did though.... if that means much.

The main artist that mentored him is mediocre at best, and is still mentally stuck in the 80's (not that that's bad, but it's not so good on current standards) - so he gave a lot of praise to this lad, and I think it built him up a bit higher than is helpful. His parents sounded indifferent, but I'm not sure how much of that was him talking and how much was reality.

Ahhh well each to their own eh?
The good thing is that you don't have to bother with that person any more, blind as he is he just will not see sense, you did your part mate
