Description I've been playing with Art Rage 2, this piece is done using only that program. Hell, if you can't afford Painter or PS I can't recommend this little (and very cheap) program highly enough!

This will be the last piece I put up for a long time, due to RL issues. As I said in my last journal, I WILL respond to everyone eventually.. so hold yer hats, but not your breath! I don't want anyone passing out on me

Edit: Yep finally, an update using Painter 11 to finish this guy off.

Look out for a new blog coming soon starring myself, the mighty Jim Pavelec [link] and a whole host of zombies!

It's the pencil up his bum that does that to him

I can only imagine that this will increase your business 10 fold. Every zombie that see's it will want to look as stately and commission you !

You know what, I think there was a revolt, the buggers didn't come and hire me, but they burned my house down and chased me, wielding torches and pitchforks up into the old windmill on the hill.
Some zombies eh.. tsk tsk!

Fangfingers In reply to ScottPurdy [2008-09-04 23:12:40 +0000 UTC]

Sorry to hear that mate....ahh zombies..... it's a market risk everytime you try and cater to them because you never know if jellied brains have set in.
As they approach i try to listen extra hard for sloshing sounds and make sales pitches to the ones that dont have rude internal noises.

DISCLAIMER:
* If this sounds like bigoted stereotyping to anyone in the zombie crowd ...get over yourselves and do some reasearch before you come pointing partial fingers at me. You'll discover it's all true.

ScottPurdy In reply to Fangfingers [2008-09-05 09:46:48 +0000 UTC]

Actually I thought the sloshing sounds were from the fluids in their bellies.. but I've been wrong before.

I wouldn't worry about the disclaimer, they're in such a minority these days that no one will listen to them anyway. There, I said it! This is one minority group that no one should even bother recognizing after burning my house down, vicious scum.

He's the most pretentious snobby looking zombie ever. Like he's saying, "pfft... I don't eat those types of brains!"

I agree about art rage that's a fun program to use. I never did play with it too deeply though just because Painter became my tool of choice. Good luck with the RL issues!

ScottPurdy In reply to MeliHitchcock [2008-09-04 13:17:19 +0000 UTC]

Hey Meli!
RL probs 'kinda' sorted so I'm free for a while, thanks for the wish of luck it is truly welcome

As for the zombie, yeah he is a bit of a snob eh. Like I said in another post, I think it's the pencil up his bum that does it

AR is great, but I'm with ya Painter is definitely my thang. Once you have your system and brushes sorted it's a really amazing prog. AR is there for fun for me, really.

Remarkable portrait, although I'm not certain how you got the subject to sit down for so long and he must have smelled terrible. Oh well, an artist has to suffer for his art.

If I ever get myself a laptop I'll be doing just that, plenty of people have recommended the Bamboo to me now

sicklilmonky In reply to ScottPurdy [2008-09-04 13:27:18 +0000 UTC]

Yeah it's definitly a good investment even if you have a desk top... plus you can switch it over to your laptop when yur ready

ScottPurdy In reply to sicklilmonky [2008-09-04 13:42:37 +0000 UTC]

Ahh no, I'm more than happy with my Intuos 3 on my desktop, I would only change that for a Cintiq I reckon. But being mobile with a laptop it's not really practical, so that Bamboo will be dreamy, I'm thinking
