Haven't posted anything in a while, but figured, hey, getting back into creative mode, a little nudge would help. So I saw the The Kaijuden Monthly Art Challenge this month was Gabara and said why not? Since Gabara was based on an Oni, a Japanese ogre like creature, I decided to add a few things to my version. More hair on the body for instance. Even as a kid I thought that the color scheme was a bit off, all green except for this tiny patch of orange hair on the head. So added more hair it seemed to compliment the picture. The two lower fangs gives him a more fierce look I think, and keeps with this ogre heritage. [link]Related content

To be able to take a kaiju like Gabara and turn him into something powerful and imposing looking is a truly remarkable feat.

You really captured the ferocity in his character. Your design really gives him all the characteristics that he lacked in the movie that could have made him more of a monster and not something to laugh at. Nice job

That is a very impressive looking Gabera you did there. I agree that a slouching, stooping stance and a big under-bite with fangs is an impressive look for Gabera, and it indeed adds to his origins as an Oni.
He actually looks like he could be quite the menace now instead of just a bully.
