Description
This is my first attempt at using frames and desaturation. I also tried to blend and blur two white water droplets into the background. And I tried to remove some noise. I have a feeling that my method of noise removal (trial and error) is probably not the most effective way to go about it.These are leaves from a plumeria bush in my mother's back yard.
Taken during a thunderstorm.
Please feel free to offer as much (polite) criticism as you like. All advice and information welcome. Comments, too!!!

I really like the composition and the contrast in this picture.
Under these circumstances (rain) you did a great job, but there is indeed some noise in the original picture. You did a good job in trying to mask it.
I have no experience in deleting the noise, but I should say that 'despeckle', 'median' and 'dust & scratches' (Noise-Filters) should help a lot. Your despeckle-job seems good to me.
The masking-job of the two dropplets isn't a great succes. I don't know how you did it, but I know that the clone stamp tool can do a great job, leaving no visible traces when starting from the original size, then using the smudge tool on the borders and finally doing the cropping of the picture.
I see you're learning fast and I hope to see some very good shots the next months.

First: EXCELLENT composition! THat is textbook perfect. The colors are good, the image is soft, and that's not a bad thing when rain is falling. It gives it a soft feeling, which is what one gets on a rainy afternoon. As for the noise, it's minimal; I don't really see any pixelation in the background at all. Sometimes the blurring tool can help with that kind of noise.

Thank you for the compliment! I was so pleased when I saw how well this one turned out. I fiddled with it for 3 days and couldn't get it to look right. The background was way too green, which made it hard to appreciate the composition of the leaves. Finally, it occurred to me that if I could figure out how to do a layer I could desaturate it. I was so excited I didn't go to sleep until 2am because I kept tweaking it.
I think it'll be worth it to go back to this one again and try re-sizing the original before I desaturate it. Maybe I'll put it in the main gallery....
