It had been nearly five months to the day since that day. Nearly half a year since then.

Since his parents had died. Since they'd lost Kite.

He refused to believe his brother was dead, had refused the whole time that Liath and Datura had said they needed to move. One more day, one more day and Kite would show up.

There were only so many 'one more day's the adults could take, it seemed. And then they'd packed up.

Sparrow refused to believe his brother was dead.

And if Liath and Datura wanted to give up, then fine. He wasn't going to run away, he still had Tiguan and Caiaphas. And he did care about his other two guardians as well. He couldn't imagine leaving them, especially after everything.

But if they wouldn't try to find Kite...

Then he would.
