Back from an unexpected sojourn, bearing good tidings and birds. Here's one of the things I painted while I was away, in-between finishing up my piece for the 2012 Werewolf Calender (here's the sketch in case you missed it--I'll post the final painting sometime later this year!)7.5x15, Acrylic on wood

I've seen them in Palm Springs, I traveled far from the city into the mountains to a river that i just can't quite remember what it's called, i think it was white river or something like that.

*giggles* i love how you got the tail flare when he opens his mouth. since i am near sighted, its one of the tell tale signs that its a Redwing.

Love the angles on the bird, the twigs, and how they balance there in the composition....beautiful bird. I don't think I've ever seen a red-wing blackbird in person.

Oh lovely! I really like the highlights and natural colors. Sometimes gaudy does not fit a piece, this has a very down to earth, calm feel to it. Despite the mood conveyed by the alarmed blackbird!
