Description
This is an old painting, back from when I was still in school. The assignment was 'texture.' I was going through my closet and found it again.Watercolour on art board.

I think I might have a new favorite from your gallery! The detail in this is incredible

Thank you! I don't paint too many detailed pieces like this anymore (I just don't have the time). There's a piece that I've been painting for over a year just sitting in the corner of my room - I haven't touched it in about four months. Ugh... I keep saying I need my time machine. Where's my time machine? Someone owes me a refund! I'm so happy you like it!

Hahaha XD I know that feeling. I haven't done a painting outside of backgrounds for animations in at least a couple of years. I kind of miss it, but I get so impatient while I'm doing it. You should just pick up that in progress painting and go for it one of these days!

what's to feel comfortable about? you have obvious talent and an excellent eye and it seems to come effortlessly for you! had you not mentioned that this was watercolor i would have thought it oil (or a photograph!)

You're writing such nice things.
It was a complete different technique than I had used before with watercolour - hardly any water with the paint thick on my brush. I really enjoyed working this way, and it's something I've used again and again with my watercolours (like the one I'm doing now - I don't think I'm going to be finished it for a very long time ). Thank you again!

my art instructor used to get so ticked with me for using watercolors like acrylic and vice versa in high school
hehehe
and you are very welcome!

Heh! My art teacher was so cool! He'd let us do whatever we wanted, let us experiment and discover what we liked using, and he let us work on our own but was willing to help at the drop of a hat if asked. I loved him! And he was such an amazing artist as well! *sigh* I miss those classes...

I didn't get to take any art in university. I did take a class at the nearby art gallery to brush up on my skills though. That was fun.

Damn, that (almost) looks real.
You have a lot of talent.
Is it just a hobby or more?

Thank you!
Right now, it's just a hobby for me. I love art, but I tend to focus on my writing more - creating things that I can send out for (hopefully) publication. I took a long break off from my art, so I'm trying to get back into the swing of things. ^_^ Thanks again! I appreciate the support.

Scary! Very good indeed. Actually, I wish I'd seen this earlier...I've been making/painting a couple of snake characters. I'll put some pictures up soon.

Thank you. This was a fun piece to paint - I used the watercolors in a way I never had before. I'm not sure about it being a portfolio piece; I spend more time writing than painting these days, but it's something to keep in mind. Love your comments!

I just joined Devient Art about 2 hrs ago, and I'm not sure how to navigate this site. Do you ever do any illustrations for your writings? And thanks for all your comments!

The navigating's not too hard, once you get familiar with it. Go check out the Help & Faq if you get stuck. You seem to be doing fine though. I haven't done any drawings for my literature yet, but I'm planning to once I feel a little more comfortable in my art. I've only recently started painting and drawing again.
And you're welcome!
