I was going through some old photos today. This was always one of my favourites - brings back some fond (and bitter-sweet) memories. I can't believe how big this little guy has gotten.The symbolism of this shot has always meant more than words to me.

It's my mother, and my nephew. This was taken when he was a little bit past one. He's turning five in a few months, and I just see how big he's become. It's amazing watching them grow, but it's also bittersweet (you wish they could stay little forever). I remember a conversation I had with my sister when my niece was beginning to crawl and we both said it was exciting, but it also made us sad.
I keep stealing hugs from him, because I imagine one day he won't want to give those anymore.

That's true, and I keep reminding myself of the fact, and yet... I think there will always be a bit of a proud sort of sadness there. I love seeing how he's grown, and all the new interests he's developed!
