He fits the song, Hand of Sorrow by Within Temptation. Buuuuuut I was a dingdong and didn't remember the lyrics of the song correctly!
It's supposed to be:

Vaedra had him born JUST to be a possible successor and another vessel. To do his bidding and be his "hand" to do some dirty work. Jacques couldn't comprehend his choice (to betray Cheppy, Teruna and Sigurd) because he was being controlled/influenced by Vaedra!

He can't save both because they directly oppose each other!

Is it worth betraying his friends and newfound family to fulfill his only and original purpose? Who is the "noble" that the land looks to? Is it Sigurd or Vaedra? Who is the rightful adviser?

They DETERMINED his life!
Obeying Arkerrius and the King could lead to the deaths of his only friends. He can't run because Vaedra has him on a tight blood leash.

I'm not sure what this is referring to. Is he going to betray Vaedra but pretend to help him and sneakily help his friends? Or does it mean he'll serve Vaedra but doesn't want his friends to know? "Still, I'll be the hand that serves you" kinda implies that he'll KEEP serving Vaedra...But it does make more sense for it to be directed at his friends, Cheppy especially, but also Teruna too for different reasons? But yeah. (I erased all of the repetitive parts, sorry!).

also, just had a thought about the last part, I saw a video a long time ago with this song to a movie, and that part was referring to someone else who was secretly helping the main person.
So maybe it could be Sig saying it to Jaques? Or Teruna/Cheppy saying it to him? If that makes sense?

Ohh... that's another possibility! Maybe Teruna and Jacques get into a fight and she leaves, but still helps him? IDK if Cheppy would actually leave him, so it might not be him? Maybe, though. But Cheppy is less involved in the war and stuff than Teruna is, and so Jacques' betrayal will effect her more and push her away?
