I'm still grasping for what to call this little bugger. The first name to come to mind is porkchop, but it isn't even part pig. This little fella is part chicken and part bat, although I imagine the sound of a helpless bleating lamb whenever it opens its tiny little toothy mouth. Its eyes are always closed, a little present from the bat side of the hybrid.----

I really enjoy this piece, it is very detailed, great contrast in expression, very nice

Thank you~. This was the first DA sponsored contest I've entered and was taken by surprise when my piece was selected to progress to the semi-finals. β₯
I think it may be the blood. I skimmed the rules again after semi-finals started because of all the complaints that speckled the main thread and I noticed that it was stated to not have gore or violence. No harm to the created hybrids and no nudity either.
I like your technique though. I was never really brave enough to play with ink washes, as I prefer intricate details (so I generally stick with the pen nibs when I play with ink, if you want examples just check out the 'lines' folder in my gallery). For future works, you may want to play with more lighting. Don't be afraid to let some white bleed through in your pictures. You'll be surprised how much a piece will pop out with well-placed highlights. A good balance of lights and darks.
