A character for *Elysian-Academy . I finally chose a design (thanks for all the votes! I did end up going with the winner of the poll, though I had other reasons too, mind you). I still feel bad for not choosing the other two, but you can't have everything, right? His colours and stuff might change a bit in the future, but he's definitely fun to draw!

Character Name: Leeroy van Kirk
Character Species: Mottled raptor hybrid
Powers: Acidity (somewhat)
Hails From: The Netherlands
Brief Character History/Description:
Leeroy's father was also a raptor hybrid, while his mother was human, so it was no surprise as to how he turned out. He was born in the town of Almere, in the Netherlands (his parents had travelled away from the capital of Amsterdam due to his mum's career), where he lived a peaceful, full life -- until he discovered his 'talents' at age 15. There were no special circumstances when his power came into play. He wasn't overly angry, or anguished, or anything else. In fact, it'd made itself known at the most inconvenient time: it was late autumn, when he and his two siblings were playing in the park, and it had started raining. They rushed home, but not after the dirt had been soaked into mud, and they had been unable to resist a mudball fight, despite the risk of stirring their parents' rebuking.

As for the actual discovery? He'd been wiping off a clump of mud off his little sister's face.

He never forgave himself for what he did to little Amilie, even though she'd been rushed to intensive care -much to the confusion of the doctors- and somehow managed to retain only light scars, and he became extremely frightened of touching anyone or anything. He had no idea what was happening and dropped out of his normal school, then begged his parents to let him attend a school which would teach him how to control the burning at his fingertips. His older brother, Jared, was very close to him, and pleaded for Leeroy to stay, as there was too much of an age difference between Jared and Amilie (Jared said it "would be no fun anymore": in a rather immature way considering his age), but Leeroy was adamant and spent no more time at home than he needed to.

His parents held no grudge over him for scarring the face of their youngest daughter, but they allowed him to attend Elysian Academy after they saw his persistence and how much he really wanted it.

Now, Leeroy can control his ability, but only barely: such concentration is needed to prevent injuring others that he can never let his guard down, and is still wary around others.

Despite the attention needed, however, his power is very limited, and is currently only accessible through his fingertips. He still doesn't trust himself enough to return to his family.

Personality:
Leeroy was a boisterous, typical teenage boy before the 'discovery' -- always the center of trouble yet somehow being meticulous to leave no evidence of his petty crimes (not to mention he could make a quick getaway). His reports in his old school were below average, and he, with a gang of his friends, wreaked havoc both in the school yard and outside. Despite this, though, he always had a soft spot for his family, especially his little sister Amilie.

After the discovery, he automatically became more withdrawn, and shied away from everything he knew. This action alone frightened him, and both his family and friends alike -- where had the old Leeroy gone? Though, he's still the same boy inside, always having a nose for the opportunity to create trouble, and having that deep-rooted desire to unsettle things. He can't stand utter silence for prolonged periods of time, or sitting still (after all, he can run pretty fast with those feet of his), but while at the Academy, he digs out his sensitive side -usually reserved for his family- and tries to be a fairly good student. After all, he wants to learn how to control his power.
