~Beyond Sleep~

You know what they do when you die?

They cut you open,
They could tell what your last meal was,
Whether it was nothing but pain or nothing at all,

If I had the choice, I would have never been born,
I never would have gone through a life I knew would reach an end,
I don't want to feel myself begone,

I don't want to feel my lungs stop taking air,
Or my heart stop beating,
And my brain go blank,
And my body go numb,

But I'm here and there will be a time where I'll close my eyes,
Fall into a dream world beyond sleep,

We'll be in a box alone,
In the ground where it's cold,
And the only visitors we'll get are whoever's in the neighborhood,
Or the feasting worms,

If there's no life after life on earth,
We simply stop remembering,
Feeling,

Nobody's right and nobody's wrong,
Slipping into nothingness,
A dream beyond sleep,

Then they dress you up,
Have a party,
And put you away.
