Nothing hurts as bad as losing,
Or the pain in your throat when you're admitting defeat,
When nothing feels the same because everything is always changing,
From the sky above your head to the ground beneath your feet,

Unsure of what you'll choose,
When the chips are down and everyone stops caring,
Given the choice to walk away or lose,
Give up the truth to be daring,

What would you need to confess to a priest?
So what if you hurt a few people, some lies you did repeat,
Looking like some kind of beast,
Marked on your arms, your hands, and your face, all the habits you're trying to beat,

Everyone's afraid of losing you,
The ones who knew you before you lost control,
The little ones still draw and send you Christmas cards, too,
Hardly breathing curled up in your withdrawal,

People are mean when they see your weaknesses,
Pushing everyone away with assurance and a smile,
Memories replaying in visions and likenesses,
The distance grows by the mile,

You've heard it all before,
From everyone you thought you could never trust,
No amount of apologies could restore,
They won't tell you anymore, so just do what you must.
