~Meant To Last~

All the things that are supposed to make life easier,
Just make it harder trying to find them,
Attempting to read faces and you haven't the foggiest idea,

Time is running away, afraid that you'll catch up to it,
When you were young you saw the world the way it was meant to be seen,
Now you hide it all away and call it daydreaming,

You asked God for help in your darkest times,
Always thought it never came,
You didn't appreciate it when it did, so as it was, it remained,

You can't sleep because it's better to watch the sky than face hell,
Coming home and being asked if it's really you,
Makes you regret that you left,

A mother knows her child's face,
The dog still remembers your voice,
Keep a rein on all the memories as they come back to you,

Scared out of your wits that you had exhausted the strength of love,
Aware of a touch you never thought you'd feel again,
You suffer without yielding, waiting patiently for what is meant to last.
