Personality:
Roo is currently a shell of a dog. When she first came to us, she was very nervous, withdrawn and too timid to interact with people, choosing to hide in small dark spaces and give strangers a wide berth. If you sat quietly, she would sometimes come to sit a few metres away, showing that she did want to interact, she was just too worried about what they might do to her. However, if you so much as shifted your weight, she'd pee out of fear and go into hiding in the blink of an eye. She is gradually becoming brighter and getting more of a sparkle in her eyes, but still has a long way to go. She is gradually becoming more comfortable around people though she does not want to be touched or stroked - doing so will make her lose any trust in you that she has built up and she will go back into hiding. She does however feel more able to sit next to and take treats from people. She adores other dogs and loves to play - they bring her out of her shell quickly, and she becomes a different dog around them. She'll never be a confident dog, but in time we think she'll make a very loyal, sweet and friendly companion.

History:

Roo was seized along with her four puppies and another dog from a neglectful dog hoarder, who had over 60 dogs. None of the dogs had ever had much interaction with people or the outside world.
