You said you drew your female by eye and didn't pick up a ruler and measure because that's silly and you've never seen anyone do that.Β
I kid you not when I tell you that I ALWAYS use a ruler for female key measurements!
You probably found someone else who did that since 2007, but if you haven't, well, now you know one person who uses a ruler for female proportions! I even use math so I can still apply the exact measurements when using foreshortening.

You should add that those meshurements are the "perfection" and it look good. So you should take it when you have no model but in RL you will find some slight differences. So if someone work from reallife model he may need to edit

Asymmetry in real life goes without saying so I didn't even bother to mention it.

This is so helpful, especially that you use other body parts to help show where others go. If that makes any sense...xD;

Thanks, I understand what you mean. It's one of the things I discovered while I was studying anatomy myself and I'm glad it can help others too.

This is nice. Simple, yet informative

And I had to use the ruler/pencil method in a college art class. The prof was all crazy about it. I noticed that every time I did, it always ended up with something wildly improportionate... funny that.

Hi Ronin, my friend referred your tut on key references to me. I am on an epic quest to improve my understanding of female positions and poses from the waist down, such as the relation of hips to the legs when raised and lowered. I've always had a hard time with females as opposed to males. How can I even start to understand the workings behind the ways females can pose with their hips and legs?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

scruffyronin In reply to WarkEnto [2010-04-18 03:23:08 +0000 UTC]

To me, females are basically about long smooth silhouettes of S and C but you could give me a sketch example of your problem spots for me to draw over and explain things if that can help you better.

Cool tutorial, man.
