pencil and acrylics.i won $500 third prize for this character design in the axn-anime hero drawing contest, five years ago. they retained my entry which is sad. so, after missing my painting so much i decided to make a duplicate from a rough sketch that i kept and now i don't miss it anymore.
oh yeah, the actual priestess okuni started the kabuki theater in japan hundreds of years ago.

Truly awesome character design; it totally deserved to win. Love the use of colour and details such as her winding braid; with that broadsword, she really looks the part of a warrior, but there is also something very pure and girlish about her expression. Nice!
