This one's taken me a while, but I hope the end result was worth it...I wanted to submit it for the Firefly Cookbook cover art contest. I'm hoping for a win on this, just because it's been a project that I've put a lot of personal time into developing, and there's a place in my heart for this kind of group-meal atmosphere as depicted in the series, "Firefly". I thought the Jayne/Mal thing was my favorite thing to draw in this, because it felt so accurate...even though we never really saw anything quite like that in the show...

If anyone deserves a win on this, it's you, Steve-O! I think you really managed to capture the whole atmosphere of the multifaceted relationships aboard the Firefly in this one, and not to mention that you really made with the warm and fuzzies. It feels almost like a memory (albeit an "animated" one), a fond recollection that any fan of the show could dredge up at a moment's notice. Your hard work paid off!

nah... Hoban 'Wash' Washburne.... and he died in a very lame way *ggrrrr* But Book was on my top 5, but at least his death was not so... well like I said.... LAME.... *sigh*

I cannot rest easy until I can say for certain that they are making an additional movie. Right now, all I know it that they're making a new comic book mini series, that will probably come out next year.....

Wow! I remember seeing a preview of this a while ago and I never would have guessed how great it would turn out. I could say how much I love the attention to detail and the coloring (which I do), but it's the interaction and liveliness in this picture that really draw me to it. It looks like an actual snapshot of a meal with each of the characters showing their personality.
Really a fantastic picture and I hope you win!
PS: I know this is a fiddly detail, but the sky outside the ship is lovely.

No--you can compliment the sky! Thank you! I worked a long time on it! Really! Count the exclaimation points in this response! I was particularly happy with that background detail after tweaking with it for so long, and I knew it was going to be kind of relegated to the backgroun, if not forgotten, because if text goes over the picture, it might cover that up.... But still--I like the way it turned out anyway...so thank you again!
