The Photo Friday challenge last week was "orange" and I was lucky enough to get some great shots of this beautiful fellow. Even though I didn't use this particular capture for the challenge entry I quite like how it turned out!PS: I don't know what it is with the bugs lately...but hey whatever works!

I having been trying to find that particular kind of dragonfly for a painting I started. When my computer crashed I lost the picture. Any idea what kind it is?

According to some research I did [link] it's called Libellula saturata.
Granted this is just from comparing the photographs; there could be different types that I'm not aware of

Bugs are great to take photos of, when you can catch them. I've got a spider on a spiderweb shot I need to upload.

It's quite a sharp picture, which I always admire with subjects like this. Man, these bugs can't sit still. I love the pattern in the wings and the crisp colour. I'm afraid to say I didn't notice the little fella on the left untill I looked a bit better.

Thanks so much! It was indeed hard to get the dragonfly to stay still long enough for me to get close as I don't have a stellar zoom to get it from further away; I think the water lured him to complacency though!
